DUI checkpoints
The North Central Regional Sobriety Checkpoint DUI Taskforce announced that Sobriety Checkpoints and Roving DUI Patrols will be conducted today through Monday on routes 61, 183, 901, 209, 1006, 309, 1008, 443, 895, 125, 25, 924 and 54.
Travelers are reminded to call 911 if they suspect a drunk driver or to call, toll-free, 888-UNDER21, to report underage drinking.
Woman faces
DUI charges
GILBERTON - A traffic stop at 1:35 a.m. Sunday on Route 924 led to DUI charges being filed against a Ringtown woman.
State police at Frackville said they stopped a vehicle driven by Sylvia Weber, 40, for a violation and found the woman to be under the influence of alcohol.
A subsequent breath test at the Frackville station determined the woman's alcohol level was above the legal limit, police said.
Man charged
with harassment
NEW PHILADELPHIA - A New Philadelphia man was charged with harassment by state police at Frackville after an incident on Water Street about 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
Police said Kristopher Wagner became involved in a verbal argument with a woman who he lives with and is in a relationship. The argument turned physical when Wagner pushed the woman to the floor, police said.
Police said Wagner will have to answer to the charge before Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon.
Ringtown man

GILBERTON - State police at Frackville charged a Ringtown man with criminal mischief after an incident at 122 Island St. about 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
Police said Shannon Anderson, 38, went to speak with his ex-girlfriend and mother of his child and became involved in an argument with the woman's new boyfriend, Thomas George, 38, of Shenandoah.
The argument escalated with Anderson taking a brick and smashing the passenger's side rear window of a 2007 Dodge RAM truck owned by George, police said.
Police said Anderson will have to answer to the charge before Magisterial District Judge Christina E. Hale, Frackville.
