n Ashland: The Ashland Community Watch group will meet at 7 p.m. Dec. 10 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, North Ninth Street. A state trooper will be the guest speaker. The public is welcome to attend. For more information, call 570-875-4190.

n Girardville: The Girardville Historical Society will present the third annual Christmas Gala holiday display from 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 7 and 8 at Girardville Borough Hall, Fourth and B streets. At least a dozen decorated trees will be on display. Via a donation, people will be able to vote for their favorite tree. There will be a train display and food and refreshments will be available for purchase. Santa Claus will visit at 2 p.m. Dec. 7. Individuals and organizations can participate in decorating a tree for the display from Dec. 2 to 6. The tree display is open to anyone, no matter where they reside. To reserve a tree, call 570-276-6430 or 570-276-6422. Special decorating times can be arranged by calling either phone number.

n McAdoo: Keystone Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, Grant and Hancock streets, will hold a food sale from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. The menu will include potato cakes for $1 each or six for $5; breaded vegetables with ranch dressing, $4; cheese steak hoagie, $6; chicken cheese steak hoagie, $6, which includes a choice of any or all toppings for hoagies, including sauce, onions, sweet peppers, hot peppers and mushrooms. Plain pizza will be available for $8 per pan. Toppings include sausage, pepperoni, sweet peppers and mushrooms at $1.50 extra per topping. To order the day of sale, call 570-929-1696.

n Nuremberg: The community will mark Small Business Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Attractions will include homemade candy, baked goods, jewelry crafters and wood workers. There will be displays at Marchetti's Hardware, the bank building and Floral Array. Lunch will be available at Emmanuel United Church of Christ. Non-perishable food items will be collected at the bank ATM lobby.

n Pottsville: During its Nov. 5 meeting at the Pottsville Zone, the Pottsville Kiwanis Club, in honor of Election Day, had a prize for all members who voted. The Farm City Diner was held Nov. 8 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville. Newly 100 people attended. The Pottsville Kiwanis Farm City Scholarship was awarded to Chad Heffer, Pine Grove, a sophomore at Penn State University majoring in animal science. The club held its regular luncheon meeting Nov. 12 at the Pottsville Zone. Denny Hardock advised members the Pottsville Area High School Alumni Brass Ensemble will have its concert at Trinity Lutheran Church at 3 p.m. Dec. 22. There is no cost for the concert but freewill offerings will be accepted with all proceeds going to the Pottsville Music Endowment.

n Saint Clair: The Greater Schuylkill Haven Area Business Association will again sponsor the Holly Rose Trail in memory of Pastor Rose Hoffman. The date for this year's event, Jerry Bowman said in a release, is Dec. 14. Registration and tickets on trail day will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at The Church of the Nazarene, 220 W. Main St. Tickets are $15 in advance and $17 the day of the event. Advance tickets are available at Hess Catering, River and St. John streets; Lewis General Store, 22 E. Main St.; borough hall, 12 W. Main St.; Luckenbill's Family Restaurant, 18 W. Union St., and East Ward Wellness Center, 134 E. Union St. The trail will begin at The Church of the Nazarene, where participants will hear an introduction about Rose and view the sanctuary, decorated for the Christmas season. The trail will then proceed to the four Schuylkill Haven area homes, the East Ward Wellness Center and Covenant United Methodist Church. There will be a reception from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Walk In Art Center, 220 Parkway, with the drawing for door prizes at 5 p.m. For more information, call 570-385-1750 or 570-294-1262.

n Shenandoah: Restoration Fellowship, 201 W. Oak St., will hold a Christmas celebration with the Teen Challenge Ministry at the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday.
