n Barnesville: The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. group celebrated its 34th anniversary in May at the Ryan Township Fire Company. Particpants enjoyed a meal catered by Occasionally Yours, owned by Chris Petrovich, Mahanoy City. The group meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month, at the fire firehouse. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.

n Danville: Model train enthusiasts everywhere are welcome to attend the free trains program, held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays, at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church, Pine and East Market streets. Dozens of trains are available for children and adults to play with.

n McAdoo: The McAdoo Lions Club is sponsoring a trip to Mount Airy Casino on Thursday. The bus will leave at 9 a.m. from All Saints hall and will leave the casino at 4 p.m. for the return trip. n McAdoo: The borough's bulk pickups will continue on Monday and June 17 and end on June 24. One bulk item per week is allowed. Bulk items cannot include tires, concrete, bricks, shingles, water heaters, batteries of any kind, air conditioners or paint cans with wet paint inside, hazardous material and electronics. Residents, according to a release, are encouraged to cooperate by following the instructions and schedules. For violators, warnings will be issued and can result in citations, according to borough officials.

n Pottsville: The Schuylkill County Diabetes Association, which fights juvenile diabetes, will hold its annual fundraiser from 6 to 10 p.m. June 15 at the Pottsville Zone, Pottsville. Advance tickets are $20. Tickets will also be available at the door for $22. The fee includes food from 6 to 8 p.m. and entertainment from 7 to 10 p.m. by the M&J Band, according to Anna M. Kubilus, an association committee member. Any child with diabetes who wants to attend Camp Setebaid may apply to the organization by calling for an application, Kubilus said, adding that Setebaid Services President Mark Moyer will be available at the fundraiser to answer any questions about Camp Setebaid. Anyone wishing to make a donation may make checks payable to Schuylkill County Diabetes Association and mail them to the Union Bank & Trust Co., 25 S. Centre St., Pottsville, PA 17901. n Tamaqua: The Tamaqua Public Library summer reading program will run from June 17 to July 19. Age groups and sessions include: 6 to 12, Mondays, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m.; 2 to 5, Tuesdays, 10 to 11 a.m. and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. For more information or to register, call 570-668-4660.

n Tamaqua: A representative from the Disabled American Veterans will be available once a month at the borough hall, East Broad Street, to offer free veterans' claim service for veterans as well as widows and dependent children of veterans. Information and assistance will be provided for service-connected disability claims, low income pension, health care claims for service-connected disabilities and low income veterans and other questions concerning veterans' benefits. The representative will next be at the site Monday and July 8.

n Tamaqua: The Stage Right Alliance is being formed in the greater Tamaqua area to provide better communication and support for the various art-related and theater groups in the area. Organizers, according to a release, hope to open the lines of communication among the groups to avoid duplication of efforts/productions and scheduling conflicts, share props, sets and costumes and provide better public relations.
