HEGINS - Roger Heidelbaugh was welcomed as the newest member of the Tri-Valley school board at the Dec. 4 reorganization meeting.
Hidelbaugh was sworn in with re-appointees Diane Dietrich and John Schmeltz, who will all serve a four-year term. The Rev. Carl D. Shankweiler is also a new school board director in Region Three, but was unable to attend the meeting and will be sworn in at a later time.
After the swearing in, the board began the process for election of board president and vice president.
Daniel Wagner will again serve as president of the board and Dietrich will serve as vice president. Jerry Beaver is secretary and Kenneth Smeltz will serve as treasurer. A director is still needed to fill one vacant slot.
The board also approved the meeting dates for 2014. The regular monthly board meetings will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Tri-Valley High School and committee of the whole meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the high school library. The dates are: Jan. 18, Feb. 12, March 12, April 9, May 14, June 11, July 9, Aug. 13, Sept. 10, Oct. 8, Nov. 12 and Dec. 10. Next year's reorganization meeting will be held on Dec. 1.
In other business, Fidevia Construction Management and Consulting was hired to serve as clerk of the works for the building projects at both Hegins-Hubley and Mahantongo elementary schools.
