n Auburn: The Auburn Fire & Ambulance group is seeking financial help from people and businesses in its service area. In a release, Judy A. Epting, president of the Auburn Ambulance and treasurer of the Auburn Fire Company, said donations "are a big part of keeping our fire and ambulance in operation during the year." The coverage area includes Auburn borough and parts of South Manheim and West Brunswick townships. The response to the group's 2013 fund drive has been slow, she said. "To avoid a second request for donations, please send you donation before June 29," she said in the release. Anyone who did not receive a packet should call Epting at 570-754-3014. Donations are tax deductible. "We ... thank everyone who responded quickly to our request for funds," Epting said.

n Lansford: Longtime digger and bottle collector Bob Perrin, Coaldale, presented a program on digging and collecting antique bottles the area at the Lansford Historical Society Museum, hosted by the historical society. The museum is at 117 Bertsch St. Perrin has been locating and digging the sites of old outhouses in backyards of many homes throughout the Panther Valley and beyond for many years, according to museum information. He also has a passion for studying and learning how bottles have been made over the past two centuries, who made them and the scarcity of some of the bottles. The most interesting and most collectible bottles have the names of local businesses embossed in the glass and are highly sought by collectors. n Lehighton: A Ukrainian folk dance camp for anyone 5 or older will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 1 to 5 at the Ukrainian Homestead, 1230 Beaver Run Drive. A free finale performance will be held at 7 p.m. July 6. n Nuremberg: The monthly meeting of the Nuremberg Com-munity Ambulance has been rescheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

n Pottsville: During a recent meeting at the Pottsville Zone, members of the Pottsville Kiwanis Club voted to send a donation of $50 to the Salvation Army in memory of Capt. Adam Hench, who died June 6. Hench, according to the Kiwanis bulletin, was a "good friend of the club and attended as a guest speaker on several occasions." Contributions in Hench's memory can be made to: Salvation Army, 400 Sanderson St., P.O. Box 107, Pottsville, PA 17901. The club's board of directors met Tuesday at the Pottsville Zone.

n Ringtown: The Ringtown Recreation Committee will hold its annual 5K Run on Saturday. This year, the event will include the first Children's Fun Run. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the 5K will start at 9 a.m. followed immediately by the children's run. All activities will begin at the Ringtown Recreation Center pavilion, North Center Street. Mayor Albert Breznik said there will be no parking from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday on both sides of West Main and North Center streets to ensure the safety of participants. Breznik said the parking restrictions will be strictly enforced by fines and/or towing.

n Shenandoah: The Shenandoah Community Watch group will sponsor a Labor Day Weekend Carnival Aug. 29 to Sept. 1 at Bicentennial Park/Shenandoah Area Girls Softball League field in the borough's southeastern section. SCW President Gordon Slater announced the carnival during a meeting of the Shenandoah Borough Council, which gave the OK for the event. "We do what we can for the town and we will continue to do that," Slater said at the meeting. SCW will also sponsor Kids Fun Day 2013 on Aug. 10 at Bicentennial Park. SCW meets at 6 p.m. the third Wednesday of the month in borough hall, Washington and Main streets. The public is encouraged to attend. Access to the borough hall is via the Shenandoah Area Free Public Library. Anyone with questions or suggestions for SCW may call Slater at 570-527-8459.
