n Frackville: A blood drive by the American Red Cross Blood Services Northeast Pennsylvania Region is set for noon to 5 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Schuylkill Mall. To make an appointment to donate blood, call 800-733-2767 or go online to redcrossblood.org. People 17 or older (16 with parental permission) weighing at least 110 pounds and in general good health are eligible to donate blood. Donors should bring their Red Cross blood donor card or another form of positive identification.

n Pottsville: A Civil War roundtable titled "Gettysburg: Off the Beaten Path," is set for 7 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Schuylkill County Historical Society headquarters, North Centre Street. This will be the second part of Tom Shay's series. At 7 p.m. Feb. 27, the society will feature a presentation on the East Brookside Mine Disaster with Dave Williams, a mining engineer with DEP mining operations, speaking about some newly discovered information about the disaster that occurred more than 100 years ago in August 1913 north of Tower City in Porter Township, claiming the lives of 18 miners. The society will feature an Irish Ethnic Heritage Exhibit Feb. 5 through April 12.

n Pottsville: The Pottsville Area High School Key Club, the classroom version of the Pottsville Kiwanis Club, will sponsor a wing night fundraiser from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Pottsville Zone.

n Schuylkill Haven: To mark February as American Heart Month and to make women more aware of the No. 1 killer of American Women, Schuylkill Health Auxiliary will hold a "Little Red Dress Event" from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Walk In Art Center, 110 W. Columbia St., according to a press release. The snow date is Feb. 23. The "Ladies' Fun Day Out" will educate and empower women to take control of their heart health, according to the release, which also noted the auxiliary "is committed to celebrating the energy, passion, and power of women. The event will feature heart health education and awareness and also provide entertainment and fun. There will be a fashion show, a feature on hair and makeup trends for 2014, decorating tips a silent auction and other activities. More than 50 vendors will be available for shopping. George Blum, a local consultant, appraiser and buyer, will be on hand to buy gold, silver, antiques and collectibles and donating a percentage to Schuylkill Health Auxiliary. Tickets are $20 per person, which will include snacks and hors d'oeuvres from Vito's Coal Fired Pizza and Restaurant. A cash bar will also be available.
