Anthony J. Kilker
SHENANDOAH - A Girardville man charged with threatening to rob the Valero convenience store Dec. 23 on South Main Street appeared for a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker.
Christopher M. Brennan, 36, of 238 Preston Ave., was arrested by Shenandoah police Chief George Carado and charged with two felony counts of robbery and one misdemeanor offense each of theft, receiving stolen property, recklessly endangering another person and simple assault.
The two felony robbery charges were amended to two felony counts of criminal attempt to commit robbery and the theft amended to criminal attempt to commit theft.
Prosecutors withdrew the receiving stolen property charge and Kilker held the amended charges and remaining offenses for Schuylkill County Court.
Carado charged Brennan with entering the store about 8:15 a.m. and asking for a pack of cigarettes. When the clerk turned around to get the item and then back to Brennan, Brennan pulled out a knife, demanding all the money in the register drawer.
Brennan then told the clerk he was only kidding and left the store placing the knife back in the right waist area of his pants.
