cited for crash
NEW RINGGOLD - A Tamaqua man escaped injury when the 2004 Mercury Sable he was driving crashed about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday on Route 895, Summer Valley Road, in East Brunswick Township.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Sinan Arabaci, 37, was driving northeast, about a quarter mile southwest of Evergreen Drive, when he lost control of his vehicle on the wet and slushy road while driving along a left curve.
The car crossed the oncoming lane and went off the road, police said, adding that Arabaci will receive a citation as a result of the crash.

violate liquor law
The Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement from Enforcement Office No. 9 recently cited five establishments in Schuylkill County in violation of liquor law, Sgt. Timothy F. Galloway, district office commander, Allentown, said Thursday.
Christopher Columbus Society of Tamaqua, 101-103 Schuylkill Ave., Tamaqua, PA Liquor Code, Section 471.1(g), failed to have a board-approved manager complete RAMP training within 180 days of the board's approval of the appointment. The incident occurred between Sept. 24 and Oct. 15.
The Vettes Inc., 91 McComb St., New Philadelphia: PA Liquor Code, Section 471 and PA Crimes Code Section 5512 and/or 5513, possessed or operated gambling devices or paraphernalia or permitted gambling or lotteries, poolselling and/or bookmaking on the premises on Oct. 9; LCB Regulations, Section 5.51(c), failed to clean malt or brewed beverage dispensing system at least once every seven days, from Sept. 27 to Oct. 8.; PA Liquor Code, Section 493(12), failed to keep records on the licensed premises Oct. 9.
Jack's Spot Inc., Route 125 and Franklin Square Road, Eldred Township, PA Liquor Code, Section 493(1), sold, furnished and/or gave or permitted such sale, furnishing or giving of alcoholic beverages to one minor, an 18-year old, on Dec. 4.
The Downtowne Tavern Inc., 24 W. Main St., Schuylkill Haven, PA Liquor Code, Section 437 and LCB Regulations Section 5.41, operated a licensed establishment without a valid health permit. It expired Jan. 17, 2012. Offenses reported on various dates from June 7 to Sept. 4.
Hegins Inn Inc., 673 E. Main St., Hegins Township, PA Liquor Code, Section 493(1), sold, furnished and/or gave or permitted such sale, furnishing or giving of alcoholic beverages to one minor, an 18-year old, on Dec. 4.
All of these charges will be brought before an Administrative Law Judge, who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses, Galloway said.
Woman crashes
on icy road, cited
CRESSONA - State police at Schuylkill Haven investigated a crash that occurred about 4:55 p.m. Wednesday on Cressona Road, just south of SPCA Road in North Manheim Township.
Police said Correen Bruen, 26, of Cressona, was driving a 2000 Dodge Stratus south when she drove through a patch of ice, lost control of her vehicle and slid across both lanes of the highway.
The car then went off of the northbound side of the road and struck a utility pole, police said.
Bruen, who suffered minor back injuries, will be cited for failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic due to the road conditions, police said.

in 2-vehicle crash
PINE GROVE - Two people escaped injury when their vehicles collided about 7 a.m. Monday in the northbound lanes of Interstate 81, at Exit 100 on ramp in Pine Grove Township.
State police at Jonestown said Eugenia Jeppson, 80, of Pine Grove, was driving a 2004 Honda CR-V and merging onto Interstate 81 when her vehicle lost traction on the ramp. The woman then failed to yield the right of way, entered the interstate and began to spin clockwise.
The rear passenger's side of the car struck the passenger's side fuel tank of a 2007 Freightliner tractor-trailer that was being driven north by Charles A. Miller, 52, of West Columbia, S.C., police said.
Police said both Jeppson and Miller were wearing seat belts and that Jeppson will be cited for driving too fast for conditions.
Pine Grove EMS assisted at the scene, police said.
Man charged
with retail theft
SHENANDOAH - Borough police charged a man with retail theft and disorderly conduct after he attempted to steal cold medicine from Redner's Warehouse Market on Thursday afternoon.
Police said Albin Kaminsky, 38, of 36 E. Oak St., Shenandoah, was in the store at 865 Gold Star Plaza with a woman. Police did not have the woman's identity. The woman selected two packs of Mucinex cold medicine and handed them to Kaminsky, who concealed one in left jacket pocket and put the second one back, police said.
At 2:53 p.m. Kaminsky walked passed the cashiers and attempted to leave without paying for the item valued at $12.99. As store security officers tried to apprehend him, Kaminsky began to fight with them inside the store, police said.
