Man faces charge
for trespassing
RINGTOWN - State police at Frackville are charging a Ringtown man for trespassing from an incident that occurred at 7:45 a.m. Thursday at 2608 Melanie Manor.
Police said Dean Joseph Zelinsky, 48, of Ringtown, entered a trailer belonging to Robert Joseph Heim, 49, of Ringtown, for "no legitimate purpose" and refused to leave.
The men got into a physical altercation, where Zelinsky struck Heim in the head and face, then Zelinsky fled the trailer in a blue Chevrolet Blazer.
The investigation continues and charges will be filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Bernadette J. Nahas, Frackville.
Deer Lake man
illegally sells car
DEER LAKE - State police at Schuylkill Haven charged a Deer Lake man with theft by deception after he sold a car he didn't legally own on Nov. 15, 2013.
Police said Lehigh Valley Auction called officers on Jan. 28 saying that Robert D. Schappell Jr., 42, of 440 Lake Front Drive, Ringtown, bought a 2005 Hummer for $18,695.50 at the auction on July 24, 2013, and paid with a check.
When the check was deposited, it was returned for insufficient funds and the Hummer was never titled to Schappell since he never legally paid for the vehicle.
Knowing the Hummer was still owned by Lehigh Valley Auction, Schappell sold the vehicle to Larry Luckenbill, 69, of Schuylkill Haven, for $8,500 on Nov. 15, 2013.
Police said Schappell was charged with theft by deception, receiving stolen property and deceptive or fraudulent business practices, and was arraigned on Thursday by Magisterial District Judge James R. Ferrier, Orwigsburg.
He was given $50,000 bail and remains in Schuylkill County Prison.
The investigation is ongoing.
