Ringtown woman

not hurt in crash

SHEPPTON - A Ringtown woman escaped injury when the 2000 Dodge Caravan she was driving crashed about 1:30 a.m. Saturday on Main Boulevard, Route 924, just north of Hills Terrace Road in North Union Township.

State police at Frackville said Rita A. Suda, 44, was driving north when she went off the road while following a left curve, went onto the snow-covered shoulder and struck two PennDOT signs and several small trees.

Police said Suda did not report the crash to police and will receive a citation for failing to do so.

2 suffer injuries

in Burma crash

SAINT CLAIR - Two people suffered minor injuries when the 2001 Nissan Pathfinder they were in crashed about 5:45 a.m. Thursday on Route 1006, the Burma Road, about 4 1/2 miles north of Saint Clair in Blythe Township.

State police at Frackville said Brian M. Liptok, 19, of Pottsville, was driving north when he lost control on a patch of ice, causing the SUV to spin counterclockwise, flip onto its passenger's side and go off the road, where it hit a tree.

Police said Liptok was taken to Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street for treatment of back and neck pain, while his passenger, Devin B. McShaw, 19, also of Pottsville, was treated at the scene for a minor laceration to his hand.

Liptok will be cited for driving at an unsafe speed as a result of the crash, police said.

Man loses control

on snowy road

TREMONT - A Lebanon man was not hurt when the 2010 Honda Civic he was driving crashed about 4:55 p.m. Sunday in the northbound lanes of Interstate 81 at mile marker 107.7 in Frailey Township.

State police at Jonestown said Demetrius M. Curtis, 23, was driving north, following a right curve over a bridge, when his vehicle lost traction on the snow. Police said Curtis tried to regain control but couldn't as the car struck the bridge and spun across northbound lanes before coming to a stop in the median facing southeast.

Curtis will receive a citation as a result of the crash, police said.

2-vehicle collision

leaves 2 injured

NEW RINGGOLD - Two people were injured when two vehicles collided about 4:05 p.m. Saturday on Summer Valley Road, Route 895, near Route 443 in East Brunswick Township.

State police at Frackville said a 17-year-old East Stroudsburg girl was driving a 2002 Jeep Liberty on Route 443 when she stopped at the intersection facing south. The teen then traveled across Route 895 in an attempt to turn left and go east when she struck a 2010 Ford F-150 that was being driven west on Route 895 by Dale J. Buhl, 53, of New Ringgold.

Police said Buhl suffered moderate injuries while his passenger, Diane L. Buhl, 56, also of New Ringgold, suffered minor injuries.

The teenage driver will be cited for a stop sign violation, police said, adding that New Ringgold EMS and firefighters assisted at the scene.

Shen man faces

mischief charges

FRACKVILLE - West Mahanoy Township police charged a Shenandoah man with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct Feb. 7 after the man smashed a vehicle windshield with his fist, police said Monday.

At 5:15 p.m. Feb. 7, Ann Morton, Ashland, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Cruise on Lehigh Avenue in Frackville when she spotted Dimetrius Crawley, Shenandoah, on foot in the southbound lane. He asked her for a ride and when she refused, he punched the windshield of her vehicle, police said.

Township police said they were dispatched to scene.

5 escape injury

in 3-vehicle crash

MCADOO - Five people escaped injury in a three-vehicle accident that occurred during a Sunday's snowstorm on Interstate 81 in Kline Township, according to state police at Frackville.

Christian A. Lescowitch, 27, of Sugarloaf, was driving a 1995 Dodge Caravan north when he lost control near mile marker 138.9 and his vehicle spun counterclockwise into the left lane, police said.

Two northbound vehicles hit the Dodge: a 2013 Hyundai Sonata driven by Cindy L. Brown, 44, of Factoryville. A passenger in her vehicle was Anthony J. Brown Jr., 48, of Factoryville; and a 2012 Nissan Versa driven by Michael J. Hendron, 59, of Colton. A passenger in his vehicle was Kali S. Hendron, 28, of Sugarloaf, police said.

Lescowitch's vehicle had to be towed. Lescowitch will be cited for failing to stay in his lane. The charge will be filed in the office of Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua, police said.

Snow, slush cause

vehicle to slide

TUSCARORA - State police at Frackville said snow and slush made a Tamaqua man's vehicle slide off Catawissa Road in Walker Township and into a mailbox Monday morning.

At 11 a.m., Gage P. Dotterer, 22, of Tamaqua, was driving a 1999 Dodge 2500 northbound on Catawissa Road when he veered toward the right shoulder to allow oncoming traffic to pass on the narrow road. His front tire hit the snow- and slush-covered shoulder and pulled his vehicle further off the road. It hit a mailbox and the right tire brushed a telephone pole, police said.

The steering gear broke during the accident and the vehicle had to be towed, police said.
