Robert L. Snyder, 63, of Millersburg, pleaded no contest to corruption of minors, with prosecutors withdrawing three counts of indecent assault.
President Judge William E. Baldwin accepted the plea and, as recommended in the agreement between prosecutors and the defendant, sentenced him to spend five years on probation, pay costs and $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account and have no contact with his victim.
By pleading no contest, Snyder did not admit committing the crime, but offered no defense to it, acknowledged prosecutors had enough evidence to prove him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and agreed to be sentenced as if he had pleaded or been found guilty.
Snyder said little during Wednesday's hearing except that he understood his plea and was making it knowingly and voluntarily.
State police at Schuylkill Haven alleged Snyder corrupted the morals of the girl for seven years, starting on June 15, 2002, in Tower City.
First Assistant District Attorney Maria T. Casey said the incidents started when the victim was 4 years old and continued until she was 11.Defendant: Robert L. Snyder
