n Pottsville: A free presentation titled Museum of Music is set for 11 a.m. March 8 at the Sovereign Majestic Theater, 209 N. Centre St., presented by the Gabriel Chamber Ensemble and sponsored by the law firm Lipkin, Marshall, Bohorad & Thornburg, Pottsville. In a press release, Agnes Maurer, Gabriel executive director, said the "creative event for all ages" will link many cultures and ethnicities to classical music. "Large, elaborate puppets come to life and together with handlers and professional musicians tell the lively story of how music has evolved from around the world," she said in the release. Selections will include excerpts from jazz, opera, Hungarian, Russian, German, English, Spanish, Latin and American music. The program, Maurer said, was developed by Mock Turtle Marionette Theater and the Pennsylvania Sinfonia Orchestra. Young listeners will experience "an adventure in live classical music, puppetry and stories from around the world." It will feature Doug Roysdon, master puppeteer, plus musicians Michael Toth, keyboard; Simon Maurer, violin; Debbie Davis, cello; Christa Warda, soprano; Karen El-Chaar, flutes, and Catherine DeBoeser, flute and piccolo. A puppet-making workshop for children will follow at the Pottsville Seniors Center.
n Shenandoah: The Shenandoah Valley High School faculty will play a benefit basketball game against "Showboat Robinson's Fabulous Harlem Clowns" on March 15 in the high school gymnasium. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the game will begin at 7 p.m. Ticklets, at $10 for adults and $8 for students and senior citizens, will be available at the door. Proceeds will benefit the Shenandoah Valley High School Class of 2016. Food and refreshments will be available in the high school lobby. All are welcome.

n Shenandoah: The Greater Shenandoah Area Historical Society has canceled its program that was slated for Tuesday at its 201 S.Main St. center, due to the predicted storm. The program, "A Personal Journey," will be reslated.
n Tamaqua: The Tamaqua Safety Initiative and Live the Green Dot Tamaqua will sponsor a presentation on social networking and Internet safety from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St. Janene Holter of the state attorney general's office will be the presenter. The session, according to a release, is designed to educate while stressing the importance of keeping children safe when they are online. Due to some of the subject material, students who have not reached seventh grade will not be permitted to attend.
