The Staples store at the Cressona Mall is still open for business. The corporate office said Thursday it will close up to 225 stores in North America.
Cynthia Huntsinger, mall manager, said Thursday she was unaware the corporate company wanted to close some stores.
"As far as I know, they are doing well," she said of the local store at the mall.
She would not comment on lease information saying it was confidential.
Ryan Patrick, general manager of Staples at the mall, said he knew about the action by the corporate office but could not comment on it.
He said the store opened at the mall in 1996.
Craig Jaffey, property manager for Dack Realty, Claymont, Del., who manages the mall for the Cressona Associates L.P., the owner, would not comment on lease information either.
He also was unaware of the possible store closures.
The local store does a lot of business, he said.
