Motorists traveling on Route 309 in Kline Township may have noticed that traffic signals now span across part of the four-lane highway.

While the signals are not operational, they should be in about a month when work resumes on an Interstate 81 bridge rehabilitation project.

"In order to work on the I-81 bridge at the (McAdoo) interchange, we will be closing the ramp from PA 309 North to I-81," Sean Brown, spokesman for the state Department of Transportation, said in an email. "These temporary signals will direct PA 309 North traffic that wishes to access I-81 onto a temporary entrance ramp."

Work on temporary ramps should finish this month, with the traffic lights being turned on and traffic being directed there at the work's conclusion.

The bridge is one of 15 structures PennDOT is replacing or rehabilitating between the Delano and McAdoo exits of I-81. Work on the project began in 2012, according to information from PennDOT.

PennDOT expects to complete the project in March 2015.

All schedules are weather-dependent.
