n Frackville: A community blood drive is set for 1 to 6 p.m. April 7 at Zion Lutheran Church (basement), 48 S. Nice St. sponsored by the Frackville Rotary Club and the church. To schedule an appointment, to online to www.redcrossblood.org. Walk-ins are welcome. Presenting donors during April will be eligible to win a $250 VISA gift card.

n Mahanoy City: The Mahanoy City Public Library is sponsoring a fundraiser trip to Mohegan Sun Casino on Monday. The bus will leave at 9 a.m. from the former Service Electric parking lot and will depart from the casino at 4 p.m. for the return trip. n Orwigsburg: The Blue Mountain Middle School Drama Club will present "The Music Man Jr." at 7 p.m. April 11 and 12 and 2 p.m. April 13. The public is welcome.

n Pine Grove: Lenten Saturday breakfasts are held from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Outwood Lutheran Church Pavilion, 934 Oak Grove Road. The next breakfast is set for Saturday, with the menu focusing on chipped beef on toast or home fries, eggs and ham. On April 5, the menu will include blueberry pancakes and sausage or eggs, sausage or ham and home fries. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 10 and younger. There will also be a bake sale April 5. Proceeds will benefit Pine Grove Area Church School, Outwood Sunday School and Jacob's Outwood Mission Fund.

n Pottsville: The majorette squad of Pottsville Area High School will sponsor a baton recital featuring girls who attended baton classes at 3 p.m. April 6 in the D.H.H. Lengel Middle School Auditorium. Tickets are $5 each and will be available at the door. Proceeds will help the majorette uniform fund and a pizza party for the girls who perform in the recital.

n Pottsville: An event called Pottsville Open Writers, an informal writing group, will gather at the Pottsville Free Public Library, 215 W. Market St., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 12. Participants 18 and older should bring pens and paper. For more information, email to vsmorgan@comcast.net.
