Dustin F. West entered Schuylkill County Court a free man on Tuesday, but left it in handcuffs and headed to prison after being sentenced following revocation of his probation.
West, 29, of Pine Grove, must spend 90 days to 12 months in prison, Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin ruled.
"You are not an apt candidate for probation," Dolbin told West. "You have to address your drinking problem."
Dolbin revoked West's probation after the defendant admitted violating it by being arrested for new crimes.
West originally pleaded guilty on July 24, 2013, to false identification to law enforcement. At that time, Dolbin sentenced him to spend 12 months on probation and pay costs and $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account, amounts West still must pay under the terms of Tuesday's sentence.
Pine Grove police had charged West with giving them false identification on Jan. 8, 2013, in the borough.
Also on Tuesday, Dolbin revoked the parole of Floyd D. Dillman, 34, of Shenandoah, and returned him to prison.
Dolbin revoked Dillman's parole after the defendant admitted violating it by failing to report to his supervising officer, moving without permission and mot making payments on his costs and fines.
Dillman could remain in prison until March 23, 2016. While Dolbin made Dillman immediately eligible for parole, the judge made it clear to the defendant that he would not be freed until he had an approved place to live.
"You can't be under this supervision ... if they don't know where you are," Dolbin told Dillman.
Dillman originally pleaded guilty on Aug. 21, 2008, to driving under the influence. At that time, Dolbin sentenced him to serve 90 days to five years in prison and pay costs, a $1,500 fine, $300 to the Substance Abuse Education Fund, a $50 CJEA payment and $60 restitution to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street, amounts Dillman still must pay under the terms of Tuesday's order.
State police at Frackville charged Dillman with DUI on March 30, 2008.
In another Tuesday case, Judge Charles M. Miller revoked the probation of Harold J. Fowler, 39, of Frackville, and sentenced him to serve one to two years in a state correctional institution.
Fowler originally pleaded guilty on Aug. 27, 2009, to theft and conspiracy, with prosecutors withdrawing a charge of receiving stolen property. At that time, Miller placed him on probation for five years and also sentenced him to pay costs and a $50 CJEA payment, amounts Fowler still must pay under the terms of Tuesday's sentence.
Shenandoah police alleged Fowler committed his crimes on June 27, 2008, in the borough.
