TAMAQUA - A New Ringgold man charged with robbing Our Family Mini Market in Tamaqua on Feb. 1 waived his right to a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer.
Christopher L. Hill, 26, whose last known address was 47 Mush Dahl Road, was arrested by Tamaqua police Patrolman Karl Harig and charged with simple assault, terroristic threats, disorderly conduct, retail theft and criminal mischief.
By waiving his right to a hearing, Hill will now have to answer to all of the charges against him in Schuylkill County Court.
Harig said a clerk at the store reported Hill entered, had knife on him and then left heading west on Broad Street. Hill was located a short time later and returned to the store where he began to yell at the clerk and was told to shut up.
Harig said the store clerk told officers he watched in a mirror as Hill placed items in his pockets and then went to the register to pay for other items but not them. When the clerk told Hill to take the items out of his clothing, Hill started to hit him in the head and face, breaking his glasses, Harig said.
