Tower City man

faces theft charges

TOWER CITY - State police at Schuylkill Haven said a man is facing burglary and related charges after an incident between 1 p.m. March 18 and 8 a.m. March 20 at 105 S. Fourth St. in Porter Township.

Police said Donathan Bixler, 18, of Tower City, went to the home, entered and stole a hunting rifle owned by Scott Sherman, Tower City.

Bixler then fled the scene on foot carrying the rifle, and the following morning Michael Schmitt, also of Tower City, noticed several of his Xbox video games were also missing.

Police said that Clark Barder, Lykens, then purchased the stolen rifle from a third party and the weapon was recovered from him.

Bixler will have to answer to the charges against him before Magisterial District Judge David Rossi, Tremont.

Police charge

man for drugs

McADOO - A Hazleton man is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after the car he was a passenger in was stopped about 2:55 a.m. March 12 by McAdoo police at West Blaine Street and Kennedy Drive.

Police said Eric Brennan, 13 Newport Drive, will now have to answer to the charges in district court.

Police said they stopped a vehicle for not using a turn signal and found a passenger, Brennan, with a packet of heroin in his possession.

Police cite man

for harassment

DELANO - State police at Frackville cited a Delano man following an assault and harassment incident at 3:22 p.m. Wednesday at 44 Walnut St.

Police said that Ronald Lewis Kennedy, 35, of Delano, punched James Arthur Steward, 32, of Delano, in the right eye during an argument at his home.

Kennedy was cited with harassment and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver's license.

Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 570-874-5300.

Ryan Township police were not on duty at the time of the incident.

Police charge

men for fighting

TOWER CITY - State police at Schuylkill Haven charged two men from the borough with harassment for fighting on Monday in Porter Township.

About 6:55 p.m. at 1711 E. Grand Ave., a 48-year-old man struck a 19-year-old man across the face, then the 19-year-old pushed the 48-year-old twice, police said Thursday.

The charges will be filed in the office of Magisterial District Judge Carol A. Pankake, Tremont, police said.

City police probe

electronics theft

Burglars broke into an apartment in Pottsville this week and stole a television, a laptop computer and a Playstation 3 game console, city police said Thursday.

The incident occurred between Monday and Wednesday at 715 W. Arch St. The burglars entered by forcing a rear door. The incident was reported to the police noon Wednesday, police said.

Port Carbon man

may face charges

EAST NORWEGIAN - A Port Carbon man may face charges after he was pulled over for driving a vehicle with an expired registration.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Tuesday that James Stank, 46, of Port Carbon, was stopped at 6:53 p.m at Market Street and Mill Creek Avenue in East Norwegian Township for the expired registration and was found to be driving with a suspended license.

Police also said he showed signs of impairment. He did a field sobriety test and was later taken to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street for a blood alcohol test.

Pending those results, charges will be filed.

Man allegedly

damages DVD

A Minersville man allegedly hid a DVD from the Adult Shop 61 and then put it back on the shelf Friday.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Gary Bainbridge, 57, of Minersville, was seen removing an adult DVD from its case at 1:09 p.m while at the store.

He put the DVD in his coat pocket and continued looking around, police said.

Police said Bainbridge later returned the DVD to the shelf, but not without scratching it.

The damage to the disc made it unusable, police said.

Bainbridge will face charges through Magisterial District Judge James R. Ferrier, Orwigsburg.
