Schuylkill County Crime Stoppers, Pottsville police and Pottsville fire officials are asking for the public's help in finding those responsible for a fire last month that extensively damaged two homes in the city.

Fire officials said the March 26 fire at 734 Schuylkill Ave. was discovered at 8:35 p.m. and, before being contained, spread into a common wall and to an adjoining home at 732 Schuylkill Ave.

The home where the fire started was vacant and the attached home at 732 Schuylkill Ave. was under renovations by the owner and soon to be lived in.

Flames started in the front first floor room of 724 Schuylkill Ave., owned by Rida Delp, Reading, investigators said.

In addition to these two homes, an unoccupied home at 736 Schuylkill Ave. sustained fire damage and an occupied home at 738 Schuylkill Ave. sustained minor smoke damage.

A state police fire investigator, working with local authorities, examined the home after the fire and determined the blaze was intentionally set, a case of arson.

The home where the fire started was empty and had no electrical service, officials said.

Schuylkill County Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information on the identity of those responsible for setting this fire or on any other unsolved crime in Schuylkill County.

Callers are asked to refer to incident 04-06-14 when calling with information about the arson fire in Pottsville.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers, toll-free, at 877-TIPS4SC (877-847-7472).

Individuals with information can also directly call Pottsville police at 570-622-1234 or state police at Frackville at 570-874-5300.

All information received will remain confidential.
