Pottsville police, with help from state and local agencies, executed a search warrant Friday at a city home.

Police, along with officers from the state Board of Probation and Parole and Schuylkill County Juvenile Justice agencies, descended on a home at 517 W. Race St. about 8:50 a.m., armed with the warrant issued by Magisterial District Judge James K. Reiley, Pottsville.

In addition, city animal control and code enforcement officers were called to document and follow up on active investigations involving their departments.

Police Chief Richard F. Wojciechowsky said the search warrant led to several items of contraband being seized from inside the home, along with several items of evidentiary value.

The chief offered no other details as to the items found because of the ongoing criminal investigation.

As a result of the warrant service, Wojciechowsky said state probation and parole agents issued an arrest warrant for resident Allateef White, while juvenile justice authorities took a 15-year-old boy into custody.

He also said animal control will be issuing a citation for violations associated with Animal Housing after five adult pit bulls and eight pit bull puppies were discovered Friday inside the home.

Wojciechowsky said that Pottsville code enforcement officers found 10 violations and are pursuing those matters with the owners of the home, House Flex LLC.

"The search warrant was a cooperative intra-agency effort to address information received and cultivated concerning possible violations associated with the residence and certain occupants," Wojciechowsky said.

He also urged all Pottsville residents to proactively keep a watch on their neighborhoods and report any suspicious activity to the city police.

Wojciechowsky said all information received from private citizens will be kept confidential if requested by the caller.

He said that in addition to the continuous active presence of the police patrol division, both he and Mayor James T. Muldowney are committed to directing extra police resources whenever necessary to proactively respond to specific citizens' concerns and work in a collaborative effort to ensure the highest quality of life possible for city residents.
