Driving complaint

leads to charges

SHENANDOAH HEIGHTS - A reckless driving complaint received by West Mahanoy Township police on March 25 led to charges being filed against a Shenandoah Heights man.

After receiving the complaint about 12:55 p.m., police said they stopped the vehicle driven by Joseph S. Casserly, 52, of 160 Schuylkill Ave., and found him to be under the influence.

A subsequent blood test at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street revealed Casserly had a combination of prescription drugs and marijuana in his system.

Charges of DUI-controlled substance and traffic violations will be filed against Casserly with Magisterial District Judge Christina E. Hale, Frackville, police said.

Pottsville police

investigate crash

Pottsville police are investigating a crash that occurred about 5:50 a.m. Saturday on North Second Street.

Police said a 17-year-old juvenile was driving a 1998 Nissan Maxima south in the 900 block of North Second Street when he veered off the west side of the road and crashed into an embankment, causing the car to roll over.

The juvenile fled the scene and was apprehended by officers a short time later, police said.

The investigation is continuing and police said criminal charges against the teenager are pending the results of a blood toxicology test taken after the crash.

Control board

cites business

TAMAQUA - A borough business was cited on Feb. 24 by the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for selling alcohol to a minor.

Police said Tuesday that the charge against Padora's Six Pack House, 209 Railroad St., stems from an incident on Dec. 27.

The matter will now come before an administrative law judge, who has the authority to impose penalties from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses.

The judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation based on the severity of the charge brought and also mandate training in an effort to educate the license holder on what is required of them by law.

Man faces charges

for bad checks

FRACKVILLE - West Mahanoy Township police charged a man with bad checks after an incident on March 27.

Police said David P. Wolfe Jr., 29, whose address was not available, wrote a check to Jack Rich Inc. in the amount of $364 for home heating oil, but the check was returned for insufficient funds.

Police said a warrant was issued for Wolfe's arrest and ask that anyone with information on his whereabouts call them at 570-462-2360 or through the Schuylkill County Communications Center at 570-462-1991.
