Lebanon Valley

Lebanon Valley College, Annville, inducted more than 165 students to 16 honor societies during Inquiry 2014, the college's two-week-long celebration of scholarly, scientific and creative achievements of the student body. Local residents who were inducted into the honor societies include:

Sarah Harleman, Ashland, was inducted into the Tri-Beta honor society. She is pursuing a bachelor's degree in biology and is a graduate of North Schuylkill High School.

Miranda Milillo, Tamaqua, was inducted to the Theta Alpha Kappa honor society. She is pursuing a bachelor's degree in religion and is a graduate of Marian High School.

Laura Misiewicz, Ashland, was inducted into the Tri-Beta and Gamma Sigma Epsilon honor societies and is pursuing a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and molecular biology.

Rebecca Sausser, Schuylkill Haven, was inducted into the Theta Alpha Kappa honor society. She is pursuing a bachelor's degree in history and religion and is a graduate of Schuylkill Haven Area High School.

Clarissa Shoffler, Gordon, was inducted into the Delta Alpha Pi honor society. She is pursuing a bachelor's degree in chemistry in ACS chemistry and is a graduate of North Schuylkill High School.

Rhys Watkins, Port Carbon, was inducted into the Delta Alpha Pi honor society and is pursuing a bachelor's degree in chemistry and economics and accounting. He is a graduate of Pottsville Area High School.

Alvernia

The following graduating seniors at Alvernia University, Reading, received awards during the annual Honors Convocation on April 13:

Dillon Emery, Locustdale, earned the university's Outstanding Scholar Athlete Award and the Excellence in Sport Management Award from the business department. The Outstanding Scholar Athlete Award is given to two student athletes, one male and one female, who are recognized annually for maintaining the highest grade-point average after four years as Alvernia athletes. The Excellence in Sport Management Award is presented to a student who demonstrates superior academic performance and potential for professional accomplishment in sport management.

Amanda Cannon, Pottsville, earned the Academic Excellence Award from the criminal justice department. It is presented to a graduating senior with the highest grade-point average in criminal justice who holds true to the mission of the major, stipulated by the faculty of the department.

Sheri Kaufman, Pine Grove, earned the Outstanding Undergraduate Student Teacher Award from the education department. It is presented to graduating seniors who demonstrate outstanding performance in the field.

Fajjr Khan, Schuylkill Haven, earned the Frances J. Thomas Theatre Award from the fine and performing arts department. It is presented to an outstanding graduating senior recognized for overall commitment, as well as achievement in the theater program.

Mark Denchy, Pottsville, earned the Director's Award-Schuylkill Center from the School of Graduate & Adult Education. It is presented to a Schuylkill Center graduating student for commitment to academic excellence and Franciscan ideals.

Heather Dixon-Brock, Auburn, earned the Master of Arts in Community Counseling Clinical Advancement Award-main campus from the School of Graduate & Adult Education. It is presented to a main campus graduate in recognition of commitment to clinical advancement in counseling. Heather is a master of arts degree candidate.
