A Saint Clair man will spend time on parole and probation after admitting Wednesday in Schuylkill County Court that he possessed two weapons and two types of drugs and passed a bad check at a judge's office.

Vincent Mayer, 24, pleaded guilty to two counts each of prohibited possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a controlled substance in one case and bad checks in the other.

Judge James P. Goodman accepted Mayer's plea and, pursuant to an agreement between prosecutors and the defendant, sentenced him to time served to 12 months in prison with immediate parole and 11 months consecutive probation.

Mayer also must pay costs, $100 to the Substance Abuse Education Fund and $239 restitution to the state police crime laboratory in Bethlehem and perform 10 hours community service under the terms of Goodman's sentence.

Pottsville police charged Mayer in the one case with possessing the weapons, a knife and brass knuckles, and the controlled substances, methamphetamine and a prescription drug, on Sept. 4, 2012, in the city.

In the other case, Port Carbon police charged Mayer with passing a bad check for $362 at the office of Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko on Nov. 9, 2012, in the borough.

Goodman also accepted guilty pleas from, and, pursuant to agreements between prosecutors and defendants, imposed the indicated sentences on, these people:

Melissa Baer, 20, of Tamaqua; simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment; 23 months probation, $50 payment to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account, $50 bench warrant fee, no contact with the victims and drug and alcohol evaluation. Prosecutors withdrew a charge of recklessly endangering another person and a second count each of simple assault and disorderly conduct.

Brett L. Blankenbiller, 44, of Frackville; possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia; three to 23 months in prison, $100 SAEF payment, $1,058 restitution to the state police crime laboratory in Bethlehem and submission of a DNA sample to law enforcement authorities. Prosecutors withdrew charges of possession of a controlled substance and selling a noncontrolled substance represented as a controlled substance.

In other cases, a Hubley Township man returned to prison Thursday after a Schuylkill County judge revoked his probation.

Erdman originally pleaded guilty on Aug. 14, 2013, to driving under the influence, carrying a firearm without a license and failure to drive at a safe speed. Prosecutors withdrew a charge of careless driving.

At that time, Goodman sentenced Erdman to serve 72 hours to six months in prison and an additional 12 months on probation, and pay costs, $1,025 in fines, $100 to the SAEF, a $50 bench warrant fee and $60 restitution to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street.

State police at Schuylkill Haven alleged Erdman was DUI and possessed a firearm on Dec. 30, 2102, in Hegins Township.
