n Pottsville: The annual spring concert by the D.H.H. Lengel Middle School Band is set for 7 p.m. May 13 under the direction of Michael F. Ryan. The annual spring choral concert by the Lengel seventh- and eighth-grade choirs, the Tide Tones, under the direction of Catherine S. Zimmerman, is set for 7 p.m. May 15 and the annual eighth-grade talent show is set for 7:30 p.m. May 21. All presentations will be in the middle school auditorium and freewill offerings will be accepted at the door.
n Pottsville: The Pottsville Rotary recently welcomed students of the month Kristin Goodman and Josh Buehl from Nativity BVM High School and Caren Moyer and Kevin Sninsky from Pottsville Area High School. The students told Rotarians about their school and community activities and plans for the future. Rotarians Frank Peron and Pete Yasenchak provided the students with a brief history about Rotary, the Pottsville club and Rotary International's fight against polio.
n Shenandoah: Columbia Hose Fire Company No. 1 will hold its annual block party from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. June 13 and noon to 11 p.m. June 14 at the firehouse grounds, 742 W. Centre St. The truck parade will be at 7:30 p.m. June 13. Entertainment Friday will feature Atomic Pop and Saturday will feature Ghost County, both from 7 to 11 p.m. New this year will be carnival foods, games and rides along with the traditional coal region favorites.
