Car rear-ended
near Pine Grove
PINE GROVE - Two people escaped injury when their cars collided about 8:20 a.m. Wednesday on Suedberg Road just west of Brookside Road in Pine Grove Township.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Ronald E. Miller, 51, of Pine Grove, was driving a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta east when he ran into the back of a 2006 Chrysler being driven by Maurice R. Lord, 80, also of Pine Grove.
Police said Lord was stopped in the eastbound lane behind another car whose driver was waiting for a tractor-trailer to turn around.
No injuries were reported and Miller's vehicle had to be towed from the scene. Miller, police said, will be cited for driving at an unsafe speed as a result of the crash.

in 2-car crash
SUMMIT STATION - Five people escaped injury when two vehicles collided about 1:25 p.m. April 27 at Route 895 and Fair Road in Wayne Township.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Laren E. Wills, 24, of Cinnaminson, New Jersey, was driving a 2005 Ford west on Route 895 when she tried to make a left turn and travel south on Route 183.
In doing so, police said, Wills drove into the path of a 2000 Subaru Outback being driven north on Route 183 by Dean R. Klinger, 55, of Schuylkill Haven.
Police said Wills and her passenger, Elizabeth J. Althouse, 28, of Prospect Park, along with Klinger and his passengers, Robin M. Klinger, 59, and Chelsey F. Klinger, 20, of Schuylkill Haven, were not hurt.
Wills, police said, will be cited for failure to stop at a stop sign as a result of the crash.
Charges pending
after truck crash
QUAKAKE - Rush Township police investigated a crash that occurred about 6:20 p.m. Sunday on East Main Street.
Police said Kenneth Hertzog, McAdoo, lost control of his Dodge Dakota truck when he went off of the road and struck a tree.
Police said Hertzog showed signs of being under the influence and was taken to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street for a blood alcohol test.
Police said charges are pending the outcome of the blood test.
Wanted man taken
into custody
HOMETOWN - Rush Township police reported taking a Tamaqua man into custody about 10:20 p.m. Sunday after a vehicle stop.
Police said they stopped a vehicle on Claremont Avenue and found a passenger, John Guerrero, 23, was wanted in Lehigh County.
The man was taken into custody awaiting action by authorities in that county, police said.
Coaldale man
faces theft charges
HOMETOWN - A Coaldale man is facing retail theft charges after an incident Sunday at Wal-Mart.
Police said Andrew D. Diamond, 34, will have to answer to the charge before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua.
Diamond, police said, was charged with stealing items valued at $553.84 from the store.
Dirt bike taken
from open barn
PITMAN - A red 2001 Honda 100R dirt bike was stolen from a barn between May 3 and Thursday at 24 Zion Church Road, Hegins Township.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said the bike belongs to Michael Shaw, 30, of Pitman, who said someone pushed the bike through the open doors of the barn.
