2 teens injured
in truck crash
FRIEDENSBURG - Two teenagers were injured when the 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck they were in crashed on Browns Road, just west of Moyer's Station Road, about 10 p.m. Saturday, police said.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said a 17-year-old Cressona girl failed to round a right curve, crossed over the oncoming lane and went off the road and hit a tree.
After hitting the tree, police said the truck continued for 70 feet and struck another tree before flipping onto its driver's side.
The girl was taken to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street and later transferred to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest for additional treatment of moderate injuries.
A passenger in the truck, a 17-year-old Schuylkill Haven boy, suffered minor injuries, police said.
Neither teen was wearing a seat belt, police said.
The girl will be cited for the crash, and Summit Station and Friedensburg firefighters assisted at the scene, police said.
Theft, burglary
probed in Rush
HOMETOWN - Rush Township police investigated two theft-related incidents that occurred this month in their coverage area.
Police said Kristopher K. Lane, 22, of Nescopeck, is facing charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property after he stole $1,208.12 worth of DVDs from Wal-Mart. Police said Lane left the store but was later identified and will now have to appear before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua.
In the second incident, police said someone stole numerous guns and a large amount of cash from a location on Zellner Road.

SHENANDOAH HEIGHTS - A Ringtown man will receive a citation for public drunkenness filed by state police at Frackville after an incident at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tastee Freeze on Route 924 in West Mahanoy Township.
Police said George S. Beaver, 56, was found alongside Route 924 highly intoxicated. A citation was filed against him with Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, Shenandoah, police said.

The North Central Regional Sobriety Checkpoint DUI Taskforce announced that Sobriety Checkpoints and Roving DUI Patrols will be conducted today through Monday on Routes 61, 183, 901, 209, 1006, 309, 1008, 443, 895, 125, 25, 924 and 54.
Travelers are reminded to call 911 if they suspect a drunk driver or to call, toll-free, 888-UNDER21 to report underage drinking.
Police investigate
theft of trailer
JONESTOWN - State police at Jonestown are investigating the theft of a trailer that occurred between noon Saturday and noon Monday in the 400 block of North Lancaster Street in Swatara Township, Lebanon County.
Police said Steve Donmoyer, Jonestown, reported someone stole his black 1989 Johnson-Matthew trailer from a vacant lot and fled the area.
