PINE GROVE - A Pine Grove woman was injured after an accident involving a tractor-trailer at 7:01 a.m. Tuesday on Geary Wolfe Road in Pine Grove Township.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said the accident occurred as Tyrone Bronson, 45, of Georgetown, South Carolina, was driving a tractor-trailer and could not slow down when attempting to navigate a right curve in the road.
Police said Bronson was traveling north on Route 645 in the township at a high rate of speed and as a result, the load of the 2000 Freightliner Conventional shifted and became undone.
Jessica L. Matuella, 25, of Pine Grove, was driving south in a 2010 Ford Edge in the soundbound lane in the area of Deer Lake when the load from the tractor-trailer hit her vehicle.
The Ford stopped along the southbound shoulder of the road, facing south. The tractor-trailer continued north on Route 645 one half mile, stopping in the northbound lane.
The cargo caused heavy damage to the passenger side of the Ford.
Matuella sustained minor injuries and was taken by Pine Grove Advanced Life Support to Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street, police said. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, police said.
Bronson was charged with failure to drive at a safe speed.
