A flash flood watch has been issued for Schuylkill County until 8 p.m. tonight.
"(Rain) will be fairly steady" today, Tony Mach, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, State College, said.
He said total accumulation in Schuylkill County could be "between 1 3/4 inches and 2 inches."
According to the National Weather Service website, www.weather.gov, between 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 inches of rain are possible.
"It's a very slow moving cold front," Mach said.
According to the NWS website, "Excessive runoff from the heavy rainfall will cause rapid rises on creeks and streams. Flash flooding will be possible ... especially for areas that have already received excessive rainfall in recent days. Ponding of water on roadways and flooding of poor drainage areas is expected as well."
Temperatures are expected to rise into the low 60s today, with a low of 46. Winds between 9 and 17 mph are expected, with gusts reaching up to 24 mph, according to the NWS.
The sun will make an appearance Saturday. Temperatures will be in the upper 60s, with a low in the 40s. A slight chance of rain is possible.
No precipitation is forecast for Sunday. The high will be in mid-60s and the low in the mid-40s.
