A 37-year-old Cressona man charged with trying to stab his wife at their 22 Judy Drive home on March 18 is among those scheduled to plead not guilty Monday during arraignment in Schuylkill County Court.
Ravinder Singh Randhawa was arrested by state police Trooper Thomas Hornung of the Schuylkill Haven station and charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment.
Hornung said Randhawa became involved in an argument with Mandeep Kaur over food, began cursing and tried to hit her in the face.
Hornung said Kaur recalled her husband saying, "I will surely kill you" and then trying to stab her in the stomach with a 3-inch paring knife.
Kaur reported she was able to avoid being stabbed and pushed her husband away, causing him to fall to the floor due to being intoxicated, Hornung said.
