n Barnesville: The first Jerry Wolman Memorial Golf Classic is set for June 22 at Mountain Valley Golf Course. Breakfast will begin at 9 a.m. and tee-off will be at 10 a.m. Proceeds will benefit children's charities. For more information, call Sam Matta at 570-462-0985.

n Frackville: A community blood drive in the basement of Zion Lutheran Church, 48 S. Nice St., is set for 1 to 6 p.m. Monday, sponsored by the church and the Frackville Rotary Club. The drive is open to the public and walk-ins are welcome. To schedule an appointment, call 800-RED-CROSS or go online to www.redcrossblood.org.

n Frackville: A free lunch program for children will be available at Memorial Park from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays June 9 through Aug. 20, excluding July 4. Only children may receive the food and they must remain in the park while eating, according to a release. Registration is not needed and there are no other requirements, according to the release from attorney Karen L. Domalakes.

n Mahanoy City: The Mahanoy City Homecoming Church Committee's annual Ethnic Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 7 at the Citizens Fire Company. It will include homemade ethnic food, baked goods, candy, beverages and soup. Borough churches have been participating in this event for 26 years.

n Pottsville: Assumption BVM School will have new leadership next year, according to a Roman Catholic Diocese of Allentown press release. The school's governing board has appointed veteran head teacher Teresa Keating as interim principal for the 2014-15 school year. Keating, according to the release, has taught in the diocesan schools for 35 years including at St. John the Baptist, All Saints and Assumption BVM, all in Pottsville. Keating, 58, obtained a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and a bachelor of arts degree in Spanish from Cabrini College, Radnor. She earned a master of education degree in reading from Bloomsburg University. She is a member of the diocesan Education Leadership Program and is pursuing a supervisory certificate from Marywood University. Keating succeeds Kimberly Ann Fetter, principal since the school's founding in 2011. Fetter was recently appointed assistant superintendent for professional personnel in the diocesan Office of Education.

n Saint Clair: The St. John Neumann Regional Council of the Knights of Columbus will sponsor a breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon June 8 in Holy Cross Hall, New Philadelphia. Patrons may eat in the hall or take meals out. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. For more information, call Tony at 570-429-1716.

n Schuylkill Haven: The Walk In Art Center sent out a call to artists as it announced plans for a special youth art exhibit with Pottsville native Lance Rautzhan as curator, juror and collaborator. The exhibit, titled "A Sense of Place," is "influenced by the surroundings and place in which it is created ... not just about physical surroundings but also ... the experiences and people that come with occupying the physical place, which leaves the door open to all kinds of ideas," organizers said in a release. Opening night for the exhibit is 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 13. It will remain in place for the center's Kick Up Your Heels V fundraiser Sept. 19 and through November. It is open to young residents of Schuylkill County 15-18 years old. The mediums for the exhibit are watercolor, acrylic on canvas, oil on canvas, mixed media and drawing and illustration. The maximum number of pieces for the exhibit is 30. Those interested should submit email to artsubmissions@walkinartcenter.com and include name, age, school district (home address if home schooled), work list in body of email that includes name of piece, dimensions in inches, medium and year completed plus attached images. n Sheppton: The Sheppton-Oneida Volunteer Fire Company is selling $5 lottery calendars for June. To by one, see any company member or call 570-384-4746 for tickets. Proceeds will benefit the company.

n Tamaqua: Zion Church will sponsor an old-fashioned social and basket raffle from 4 to 7 p.m. June 7 at the church, 489 Valley Road near Heisler's Dairy Bar. There will be food, games and performances by the Cressona Band and the Cressona Junior Band. There is no admission fee. All are welcome. For more information, call 570-366-0436.
