There were no surprise write-in candidates for state offices in the May 20 primary election.
The Schuylkill County Election Bureau sent the unofficial votes on Thursday to the Department of State. If there is no petition for a recount within the next five days, the votes will become officially certified.
No write-in candidate acquired the necessary 300 votes to oppose incumbent state representatives in Schuylkill County.
State reps. Neal P. Goodman, D-123, Jerry Knowles, R-124, and Mike Tobash, R-125, will all be unopposed in the Nov. 4 General Election. The 124th legislative district also includes Berks County. Between the two counties, Knowles received just over 300 write-in votes and will also appear on Democratic ballots in November.
There were several ties for county party committee members.
The board of elections will cast lots for tie votes at noon June 6 at the election bureau office, 420 N. Centre St., Pottsville. Candidates can appear in person or by proxy appointed in writing. If necessary, a candidate representative will be appointed by the election bureau.
