MAR LIN - Contrary to reports Thursday, authorities said there is no mold at the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 Maple Avenue Campus.
Students were moved from the west side of the classroom building to the east side about noon Thursday, Al Bobinas, a special education teacher at IU 29, told The Republican-Herald. He speculated it was due to concerns about possible mold.
On Friday, John Nabholtz, the facilities manager at IU 29, said it was not a mold issue.
"Over the weekend, there was a leak in a filter in the water coolers," Nabholtz said. "We discovered it when we came in Tuesday morning."
Nabholtz said his crew had the water cleaned up within an hour because it wasn't leaking for that long.
According to Bobinas, students were moved into the library, art and music rooms and any other rooms that were available. His classes were not affected and remained in their designated rooms.
However, Nabholtz said he did not know why the students were moved.
IU 29 Executive Director Diane Niederriter could not be reached Friday for comment.
