Police charge 4
for having drugs
CRESSONA - Four people were charged for possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia after an incident at 11:15 a.m. May 5 at 3 Beech St., state police at Schuylkill Haven said.
Albert Grant Troutman, 62, of Cressona, Virginia Dorthy Scheipe, 32, of Schuylkill Haven, John Howard Fry, 43, of Cressona, and Clarence Walter Donton III, 35, of Cressona, were charged May 23 by Magisterial District Justice James R. Ferrier, Orwigsburg.
All four are scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing at noon July 1.

The North Central PA Regional DUI Enforcement Program released information on three separate enforcement details conducted earlier this month.
Four officers from four departments conducted a roving DUI patrol on May 17 resulting in 43 vehicles contacted and detained and two drivers tested for DUI.
There was one DUI arrest and the officers made 14 traffic arrests and issued 34 warning notices.
On May 23, a DUI Checkpoint was conducted in Rush Township by 15 officers from five departments, including state police, resulting in 933 vehicles contacted, 64 detained and five drivers tested for DUI.
There were two DUI arrests made along 17 traffic arrests and three criminal arrests. The officers and troopers also issued 33 warning notices and three seatbelt citations.
Finally, six officers from six departments conducted a Roving DUI Patrol on May 24, resulting in 58 vehicles contacted and detained and one driver tested for DUI.
There were no DUI arrests made but the officers made 20 traffic arrests, three criminal arrests and issued 37 warning notices and two seat belt citations.

The North Central Regional Sobriety Checkpoint DUI Taskforce announced that Sobriety Checkpoints and Roving DUI Patrols will be conducted today through June 9 on Routes 61, 183, 901, 209, 1006, 309, 1008, 443, 895, 125, 25 924 and 54.
