n McAdoo: The annual community yard sale, sponsored by the McAdoo Community Civic Association, will be held July 12 and will include McAdoo and the Kline Township village of Kelayres. Applications will be available by the end of May. The cost to participate is $5, which includes maps of everyone participating, a yard sale sign and a balloon.

n Pine Grove: The Hose, Hook and Ladder Fire Company No. 1 will stage its carnival June 10 through 14 at Fireman's Park. Attractions will include rides, games, food, bingo and nightly entertainment. Performance headliners will include the JCJ Band on June 10, Diaspora on June 11, the Johnson Brothers on June 12, Mind Set on June 13 and Reckless on June 14. All rides will be $1 on June 10. Wristband nights will be June 11-13. Fireworks will be featured on June 13 with the rain date June 14. Animals are not permitted on the carnival grounds.
n Pottsville: The Pottsville Rotary Club recently welcomed students of the month Hannah Corbacio of Pottsville Area High School and Michaela Klembara and Spencer Villarreal of Nativity BVM High School. The second other Pottsville Area student of the month, Gabrielle DiRenzo, had another commitment and will visit the club late. The students told club members about their school and community activities and plans to for the future. The club will hold installation of officers June 18 at Mountain Valley Golf Course, Barnesville.
n Pottsville: The Schuylkill County Historical Society is sponsoring a bus trip June 21 to Baltimore Inner Harbor. The cost is $36 for members and $40 for nonmembers. n Pottsville: The Pottsville Kiwanis Club recently recognized Kelly Malone for her past 13 years as club secretary. The club also presented other awards including to George Blum, 30-year Legion of Honor and Ed Kleffman, 40-year Legion of Honor. The club presented its William Zimmerman Business Awards to Christopher Wollyung of Nativity BVM High School and Eric Phillips of Pottsville Area High School. The club's music awards, presented by Denny Hardock, went to Katelyn Shappell, vocal, and Benjamin Blake, instrumental, Pottsville Area High School, and Madeline C. Domalakes, vocal, and Mark S. Sabol, instrumental, Nativity BVM High School. According to the Kiwanis Bulletin, the club's Kiwanis Fore Kids Golf Tournament held May 2 was a success. The club held its chicken barbecue on May 19.
