MAHANOY CITY - Borough police have charged three women with assaulting a woman June 7 in a borough tavern.
Amanda L. Addvensky, 23, of 408 Front St., Pottsville, was charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault, two misdemeanor counts of simple assault and a misdemeanor count each of recklessly endangering another person and persistent disorderly conduct.
Samantha A. Heine, 22, of 616 W. Centre St., Mahanoy City, and Jesse L. Kostingo, 22, of 331 W. South St., Mahanoy City, were each charged with one felony count each of aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, two misdemeanor counts of simple assault and one misdemeanor count each of recklessly endangering another person and persistent disorderly conduct.
Patrolman Thomas Rentschler said the charges stem from a 12:30 a.m. incident at McGuire's Bar, 130 W. Centre St.
Rentschler said Heine, Kostingo and Addvensky approached and attacked patron Kimberly Franklin while she was sitting at the bar.
Rentschler said the assault was the result of an earlier incident at the Red Zone Bar a short distance away where Addvensky's boyfriend was having a conversation with Franklin. Details of the earlier incident were not made available.
The officer said that Franklin left the Red Zone Bar and went to McGuire's Bar where Kostingo approached her and asked her if her name was Kim.
When the woman replied "yes," Kostingo asked her what her last name was, to which Franklin said, "I don't have to tell you," Rentschler said.
Kostingo began punching Franklin several times in the face, during which Addvensky joined the assault, punching Franklin in the head and pushing her to the ground.
Rentschler said Kostingo, Addvensky and Heine continued to punch Franklin while she was on the ground. He said that when patrons tried to pull the girls off Franklin, Heine kicked the woman in the head several times before she and the other two fled.
Franklin suffered several bruises on her upper arms, a six-inch laceration to her left upper chest and visible swelling, bruising and deformities to the left side of her eye and cheek.
Rentschler said Franklin was taken to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street by Shenandoah ALS and treated for a contusions, lacerations and abrasions and released.
All three of the accused attackers will now have to appear for preliminary hearings before Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, Shenandoah, police said.
