Police responded to reports of a dead body Saturday near Silver Creek Road in Blythe Township.

Schuylkill County Coroner Dr. David J. Moylan, along with Deputy Corner Andrew Szczyglak, said they pronounced the body dead at 7 p.m.

Moylan said the body was found in a little gully by the side of the road. He could not identify the gender because he did not want to disturb the evidence.

"It was covered with (tree) debris," Moylan said.

Szczyglak also said he did not know if the deceased person was male or female.

"It looks like a male," he said, clarifying that the assumption is based on the clothes on the body.

Moylan said a forensic unit from the Pennsylvania State Police arrived on scene before 10 p.m. He did not know which barracks responded.

An autopsy will be performed today at Lehigh Valley Medical Center-Cedar Crest. Preliminary results and toxicology results may be possible by noon Monday, Moylan said.

"We're not saying there is any foul play" at this time, Szczyglak said.

State police at Frackville and members of the Cumbola Fire Department and Kaska Fire Company also responded to the scene.
