n Auburn: Auburn Fire and Ambulance continues to seek funds. In a release, Judy A. Epting, ambulance president and Auburn Fire Company treasurer, said members thank everyone who responded quickly to the fire and ambulance request for funds. However, the response to the annual fund drive has been slow. "These donations are a big part of keeping our fire and ambulance in operation during the year," she said. The coverage area includes Auburn borough and parts of South Manheim and West Brunswick townships. To avoid a second request for donations, she asked residents in the coverage area to send donations before Friday. Anyone who did not receive a packet should call Epting at 570-754-3014. Donations are tax deductible.

n Frackville: The Frackville Area Fireworks Committee said the 2014 display is set for June 29 at the Frackville Little League Complex, West High Street. Festivities will begin at 5 p.m. with community organizations selling food and refreshments. The fireworks display will start at dusk. All streets north of Pine Street will shut down at 7:30 p.m. The rain date for the event is June 30. For more information, call 570-527-2442.

n Mahanoy City: The Mahanoy City Public Library is holding a book sale until Sept. 2. People may buy one and get one free. Items include books for adults and children, CDs, puzzles and VHS tapes. Proceeds will benefit the library, 17-19 W. Mahanoy St. For more information, call 570-773-1610.

n McAdoo: Borough officials issued a reminder to residents that an ordinance is in place that prohibits people from having grass or weeds to exceed 12 inches in height on their property. Those who violate the ordinance can face fines issued by the borough police department. The borough also has an ordinance requiring work permits. Before starting a project, people should visit the borough building for an application.

n Nuremberg: Registration for the summer reading program at the Nuremberg branch of the Hazleton Area Public Library has begun and will continue throughout the summer. Children 3 to 13 years old are welcome to attend. This year's theme is "Science." To register, stop by the Nuremberg branch or call 570-384-4101.

n Nuremberg: The monthly meeting of the Nuremberg Community Ambulance Association will be held at 6:30 p.m. today. All members are urged to attend.

n Ringtown: A Diakon Community Services Cycling Club bike ride is set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 15 at the Weiser State Forest Route 42 entrance. Participants will enjoy and afternoon of leisure biking and can choose an 8- or 16 -mile round trip. No fees are involved. Walkers are also welcome. Participants may also meet at 10:30 a.m. in the St. John's Lutheran Church parking lot behind the church along Main Street, according to a release. For more information, call 570-624-3018.

n Schuylkill Haven: A collaborative art show and auction to benefit The Arts Barn, a nonprofit art and education gallery, is slated for 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday at The Walk In Art Center. It will be catered by Ruby's Kitchen and The Gabriel Chamber Ensemble will provide entertainment. Tickets are $20 in advance and $23 at the door. Tickets are available at The Arts Barn by calling 570-366-8736. They are also available at Ruby's Kitchen, 212 S. Second St., Pottsville, and through The Gabriel Chamber Ensemble.

n Sheppton: East Union Township will sponsor a community Summerfest from noon to 10 p.m. July 3, 4 and 5 at 10 E. Elm St. There will be food, games and amusements as well as a '70s Flashback Show from 6 to 9 p.m. July 5 and fireworks at dusk July 5 with a rain date of July 6. All are welcome.
