Albright

Kaitlin Leffler, Pine Grove, a biology major at Albright College, Reading, is spending the summer tackling an Albright Creative Research Experience project.

ACRE is a multi-disciplinary program that gives undergraduate students the opportunity to conduct research or pursue creative endeavors during summer break or the three-week January Interim. Students work with faculty mentors.

Kaitlin's project is "Bat populations and habitat use in national parks: The effects of white nose syndrome."

This summer, 19 Albright students are participating in ACREs, working in such fields as biology, psychology, history and theater. Topics range from drama therapy to 3D printing to the effects of white nose syndrome on bats.

Rachel Roseman, Ashland, a sophomore English-theater major, received the Professor Clyde Harding Award for Outstanding Scholarship in English and Communications at Albright College's Honors & Awards Ceremony held May 4.

The ceremony recognized more than 100 students for academic achievement across the disciplines and for service to the betterment of Albright and the greater community.

Elizabethtown

The following local students at Elizabethtown College earned acceptance into Alpha Lambda Delta, a national honor society for first-year students:

Tyler Butkus and Holly Sofka, Barnesville; Emily Soltys, Schuylkill Haven; Louisa Umberger, Hamburg; Eric Yoder, Port Carbon.

Scranton

Maria A. Zangari, Ringtown, was among The University of Scranton students inducted into Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society for education. She is a junior at the university.
