n Forestville: Cause for a Cure, an event to help defray medical expenses for Alicia Wrona Zipp, a cancer patient, is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 12 at the Forestville Fire Company, 1 Line Ave. It will include a Chinese auction and 50/50 drawing. Food will be on sale. Anyone wishing to make a donation is asked to call Linda at 570-540-5605 or Rachel at 570-691-4489. A shop-and-drop will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. July 11.

n Locustdale: The Locustdale Fire Company will sponsor a community yard sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 12 at Firehouse Hill. The company will also have a food and bake sale along with tables set up in the hall. For more information, call 570-590-2325. The company also is selling chances on two Phillies tickets. The chances are $3 each. The winning chance will match the Daily Evening Lottery number on July 13. Only 200 chances are available. For tickets, call 570-875-3297.

n Pine Grove: The annual Fourth of July Concert in the Park is set to begin at 6 p.m. Friday at Sweet Arrow Lake County Park, featuring the Pine Grove Communty Band. People are invited to bring lawn chairs to enjoy the performance. People may also arrive early and enjoy a walk on the boardwalk and park trails or do some fishing or boating before the show. The concert is free.

n Pottsville: Free blood pressure screenings are held at the Diakon senior community living centers in communities throughout the county. For information about times and sites, call 570-624-3017.

n Pottsville: The Schuylkill County Council for the Arts will sponsor a summer art camp from 9 to 11:45 a.m. starting July 21 at 1440 Mahantongo St. Classes are available in painting, 3D design, art to eat, nature drawing, theatre, vocal music and seedling camp. The cost ranges from $70 to $105 per class. For more information, call 570-622-2788.

n Pottsville: Schuylkill County Treasurer Jacqueline V. McGovern said in a release her office began selling hunting licenses for the 2014-15 hunting season on June 9. Her office has four PALS terminals to better facilitate the process of issuing anterless deer licenses and is "committed to processing doe licenses promptly and efficiently," according to the release. The first day to receive antlerless deer license applications for the residents of Pennsylvania in the pink regulation envelope is July 14. The first day to receive nonresident antlerless deer license applications is July 28. Any hunter who pays with a money order will receive his or her doe license upon processing and any hunter who pays with a check will receive his or her doe license mailed approximately three weeks from the date of issue, McGovern said in the release.

n Pottsville: The Anthracite Philharmonic, under the direction of Mark P. Thomas, will perform A Star-Spangled Banner Patriotic Concert from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Yuengling Mansion Gardens, 1440 Mahantongo St. General admission is $12 and children under 12 will be admitted free. The show will feature a performance of "America the Beautiful" by Minor Notes Chorale. Beverages and Yuengling ice cream will be on sale. The first six quarts made of Yuengling chocolate ice cream will be auctioned during intermission. All are welcome. For more information, call 570-628-5158.

n Shenandoah: The borough has an ordinance requiring people who walk pets on public streets or sidewalks to clean up after them. Those who do not are in violation of the law and can face a fine. Pet owners may not allow their animals to roam in the borough unleashed or out of control. Driving ATVs on public streets or areas where they are not allowed, such as parks or private property, also is unlawful. Anyone who witnesses such violations is asked to contact borough authorities. n Sheppton: The Sheppton-Oneida community yard sale will be held July 19 starting at 8 a.m. Anyone from the community who would like to participate may do so free of charge.
