6 sent to hospital
in 3-vehicle crash
SUMMIT STATION - Six people were transported to hospitals after suffering injuries in a three-vehicle accident that occurred Saturday night in Wayne Township, state police at Schuylkill Haven said Sunday.
James Gauche, 49, of Schuylkill Haven, was flown by Life Flight to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, police said. A hospital spokeswoman refused to release information Sunday without permission from the hospital's public affairs officials, who could not be reached for comment Sunday.
Guerlyne Taussai, 38, of Douglassville, was taken by ambulance to Reading Hospital for leg and chest pain, police said. A hospital nursing supervisor had no record of Taussai being at the hospital Sunday.
Leo Tobin, 48, and Tracy Tobin, 46, of Saint Clair, and the two children who were passengers in their vehicle, were taken by ambulance to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street.
"You'll have to contact Mike Peckman in the morning," said a hospital nursing supervisor, who refused to release information Sunday without permission from M. Michael Peckman, the director of public relations and marketing at Schuylkill Health.
The accident occurred at 8:03 p.m. Saturday. Gauche was driving a black Chevy Cruze southbound and slowed down in the left lane to make a left turn onto Blue Mountain Heights, police said.
Taussai, driving a 2005 silver Honda Odyssey, struck the back of Gauche's vehicle. The impact forced Gauche into the northbound lane and into the path of a white 2005 Dodge Ram, driven by Tobin, police said.
Tobin was unable to stop, hit Gauche's front bumper, then hit a sign before his Dodge Ram ramp flipped onto its driver's side, police said.
All vehicles had to be towed, police said.
Summit Station Fire Company, Pottsville/Schuylkill Haven/Orwigsburg Area EMS, State Police Troop-L CARS Unit, Troop-L FSU were among the responders. The roadway was closed for five hours as crews cleaned up the scene and police conducted their investigation, police said.
Man faces charges
in 2-vehicle crash
FRACKVILLE - A Pottsville man was charged for driving his car into the path of a pickup truck and causing a two-vehicle accident Saturday on Route 61 in West Mahanoy Township on the border of the Borough of Frackville, state police at Frackville said Sunday.
A total of nine people were involved in the accident, but only one suffered a minor injury and had to be transported to the hospital, Jennifer L. Stetchak, 39, of Hazle Township, a passenger in the pickup, police said.
At 6:18 p.m. Saturday, Kristopher M. Negron, 19, of Pottsville, was driving a silver 2003 Dodge Neon SXT northbound on Route 61. He attempted to make a left turn and cross the southbound lane to enter the Hess gas station in the 500 block of South Lehigh Avenue, police said.
Negron's car stuck a southbound black 2012 Chevrolet Silverado pickup driven by Nicholas Stetchak, 42, of Hazle Township. The car hit the front end driver side of the pickup and sustained moderate front end damage. Both vehicles had to be towed, police said.
The passengers in Negon's car included Richard G. Barskey, 23, Sylvio T. Noel, 22, and Justin M. Lederer, 18, all of Pottsville, police said.
Other passengers in Stetchak's pickup were Marissa M. Stetchak, 21, Eugene McHugh Jr., 20, and a 16-year-old boy, police said.
Negron will be charged with violations in two traffic categories, turning movements and required signals and safety restraint systems, police said.
Man faces charge
in assaulting dad
ZION GROVE - State police at Frackville charged a North Union Township man with assaulting his father Friday evening.
At 7:13 p.m. Friday, James Doyle Jr., 39, of 56 St. Mortiz Drive, Zion Grove, struck his father numerous times about the face, nose and the back of the head, then kicked his father in the back, police said.
The father, who police did not name in a public information release report Saturday, had visible injuries, including a bleeding cut at the bridge of his nose and blurred vision in his left eye, police said.
Following the assault and after his father called 911, Doyle fled the area on foot, police said.
The charges will be filed in the office of Magisterial District Court Christina E. Hale, Frackville, police said.
Ringtown man
faces charges
RINGTOWN - A Ringtown man was charged for criminal mischief and simple assault against his wife and a friend after an incident that occurred at 5:59 a.m. Thursday.
State police at Frackville said that after a night of heavy drinking, Jim Antoinelli, 48, of 10 Chestnut St., of Brandonville, Ringtown, requested that Brooks Bryan, 37, and his 28-year-old wife, both of Ringtown, stay overnight at Antoinelli's home to avoid drunk driving.
After all involved went to bed, Bryan began disruptive behavior and left the bedroom that he and his wife were sharing. After leaving the room, the wife locked the door and barred it with furniture. Bryan then went outside the home and around to the bedroom window, where he drew his wife to the window by knocking. He then punched through the window and hit his wife in the mouth. He then fled the scene in his vehicle.
Bryan was located by the Mahanoy City police. DUI charges are pending.
Pottsville woman
faces theft charge
A Pottsville woman faces charges from state police at Schuylkill haven after an incident in the city.
At 2:07 p.m. Tuesday, Katelin Flamini, 24, allegedly stole $159.12 worth of merchandise from Kohl's Department Store at the Fairlane Village mall, Pottsville, police said Saturday.
Police siad Flamini left without paying for merchandise and was apprehended outside store.
The charges will be filed in the office of Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon.
Man escapes
injury in car fire
A Pottsville man escaped injury when his Cadillac burst into flames Friday night on Route 61 in New Castle Township, according to state police at Frackville.
At 9:41 p.m., Anthony R. Citarella, 54, was driving his 1992 Cadillac Sedan Deville north when the fire occurred. He was able to get out of the vehicle and to safety as the Cadillac burned in the right northbound lane, 6,627 north of Darkwater Road, police said.
The vehicle was towed. Responders included firefighters from Saint Clair, police said.
