n Eckley: A 1940s World War II Weekend is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 26 and 27 at Eckley Miners Village, sponsored by Eckley Miners Village Associates. The cost is $10. There will be a WWII camp in the village to showcase life on the war front with firing and cavalry demonstrations. A Holocaust survivor, Severin Fayerman, will speak about his life in Poland during the war. Gail Furford, author of "Letters Home WWII - Sergeant Martin A. Paulson," also will be on hand. People who own antique cars, trucks or motorcycles may take them to the museum by 11 a.m. July 26 and enter them into Eckley's Antique Car and Truck Show for a chance to win prizes. Admission will be free for the antique vehicle owners and one guest. The third annual 1940s Swing Dance will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. July 26 at the Freeland Public Park Pavilion with music by the Hazleton Philharmonic Big Band Sound and a performance by the Andrews Sisters. Admission to the dance is $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Concessions will be served.

n Nuremberg: The Nuremberg Community Players will hold a children's summer theater workshop from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through July 18 at the Nuremberg Community Park. The program is free and open to children ages 10-16. On the first day of the workshop, participants should be prepared to sing a song of their choice a cappella and recite lines from any poem, book, play or movie. The song and lines should be memorized. Participants will learn about the audition process, theatre terms, set design and construction, makeup, costumes, blocking, lighting, sound and other facets needed to present a stage production. At the conclusion, the children will present the musical, "Zombeo and Juliet" at 7 p.m. July 18 and 19 in the Park. n Primrose: The 80th annual Ukrainian Seminary Day to benefit the St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Seminary, Washington, D.C., is set for 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 27 at St. Nicholas Grove, Route 901. It will include ethnic and regional food prepared by the parishes of the deanery. Beverages will include beer and mixed drinks. A Hierarchical Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by Metropolitan Archbishop Stefan Soroka and clergy of the deanery at 11 a.m. Entertainment will include a live polka broadcast from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. WPPA Radio 1360-AM. St. Nicholas School Student Chorus will perform at 1:15 p.m. and the Kazka Ukrainian Folk Ensemble will be featured from 1:30 to 3 p.m. followed by the McAdoo Patronage BVM Women's Junior Choir. The polka band John Stevens and Doubleshot will be featured from 4 to 8 p.m. The event will also include vendors and crafters selling traditional Eastern European items, a theme basket auction, games, pysanky demonstrations and a pysanky class. The South Anthracite Deanery of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia is comprised of 12 parishes in Schuylkill, Luzerne, Northumberland and Columbia counties. n Ringtown: Whitaker on Wheels, the traveling component of the Whitaker Center for the Sciences & the Arts, Harrisburg, will visit the Ringtown Area Library at 2 p.m. Monday. Children ages 7 to 12 and their families are invited to attend for a program called "It's Shocking," regarding static electricity, electron build-up and discharge through the use of a Van de Graaff generator. This program is sponsored in part by a grant from the Schuylkill Area Community Foundation, according to a library press release. Children's singer and entertainer Tom Sieling will present a show at the library at 2 p.m. July 30, aimed for children ages 3 to 7. However, all children and families are welcome to attend. This program is made possible by an anonymous donor, according to the release. Storytime for children ages 3 to 6 is held at 2 p.m. Wednesdays through Aug. 6. n Schuylkill Haven: The Schuylkill Haven Area School District is conducting its annual kindergarten screening for students who will be 5 years old by Sept. 1.
