IUP

Katie Fessler was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Indiana, Pa.

Katie recently completed her sophomore year majoring in fashion merchandising.

A 2012 graduate of Blue Mountain High School, Katie's parents are Mike and Jackie Fessler, Summit Station area.

Bloomsburg

Tad Ney, son of Russ and Amy Ney, Hegins, was named to the spring semester dean's list at Bloomsburg University.

Gerardo Talamantes Jr., a freshman engineering major at Bloomsburg University, was named to the dean's list with a 3.75 GPA for the spring semester.

A 2013 graduate of Pottsville Area High School, he is a son of Gerardo Talamantes Sr. and Diane Bender, Saint Clair.

John Szczyglak III, a sophomore at Bloomsburg University majoring in criminal justice, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester with a 3.67 GPA.

A 2012 graduate of Shenandoah Valley High School, he is a son of John and Barbara Szczyglak, Shenandoah, and a grandson of Rose Szczyglak and Joanne Lesko, both of Shenandoah.

Alvernia

Laura Shields, Pottsville, a junior occupational therapy major, was named to the dean's list at Alvernia University for the spring semester.

She is a graduate of Pottsville Area High School.

Lock Haven

Russ Anthony Rothermel, Pottsville, a criminal justice major, achieved academic excellence by being named to the dean's list at Lock Haven University for the spring semester.

Russ is a son of Craig and Joan Rothermel, Pottsville.

Allyssa Idacavage, a junior majoring in disability and community services, was named to the dean's list at Lock Haven University for the spring semester.

A 2011 graduate of North Schuylkill High School, Allyssa is a daughter of Al and Lisa Idacavage and a granddaughter of Edward and Ann Opanel, all of Ringtown.

Immaculata

Emma Koontz, Pine Grove, made the dean's list for the spring semester at Immaculata University.

RIT

Melody Kelly, Tamaqua, who is in the new media interactive development program at Rochester Institute of Technology B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester.

Villanova

Frank Scicchitano, Barnesville, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester. He is pursuing a bachelor's degree in communications in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Villanova University.

Bucknell

Jonathan Hunsberger, Lykens, son of Scott and Sonya Ritter, and Brianan Roeder, Schuylkill Haven, daughter of Brian and Melissa Roeder, were named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Bucknell University, Lewisburg.

Dickinson

Alexia Victoria Tobash, a rising sophomore art and art history major at Dickinson College, Carlisle, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester.

A graduate of Pottsville Area High School, she is a daughter of Mike and Amie Tobash, Pottsville.

Marywood

Brianna Kuperavage, a sophomore majoring in architecture was named to the dean's list for the sporing semester at Marywood University, Scranton.

A 2012 graduate of Nativity BVM High School, she is a daughter of Bernie and Kim Kuperavage, Cumbola.

Penn State

James P. Wagner, a junior kinesiology/business major at Penn State Berks campus, has attained the dean's list for the spring semester.

He is a son of Thomas and Amy Dobeck, Barnesville, and John and Heather Wagner, Shartlesville.

James is a 2011 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School.

Scranton

More than 1,480 students were named to The University of Scranton dean's list, which recognizes students for academic excellence during the spring semester.

Local students honored in Scranton's Panuska College of Professional Studies include: Mara Wolfe, Ringtown, a sophomore counseling and human services major; Tyler Savakinas, Frackville, a junior exercise science major, and Maria Zangari, Ringtown, a senior secondary education and English major.

Slippery Rock

Trevor J. Lotz, a freshman athletic training major at Slippery Rock University, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester.

A 2013 graduate of Pottsville Area High School, he is a son of James and Maureen Lotz and a grandson of James and Elizabeth Trombetta and William Lotz and the late Martha Jean Lotz.

Elizabethtown

Allison Salata, a sophomore accounting major at Elizabethtown College, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester.

Allison is a daughter of Glenn and Terri Salata, Pottsville, and a 2012 graduate of Pottsville Area High School.
