ORWIGSBURG - Already facing Schuylkill County Court action for an alleged escape in May from sheriff's deputies in Pottsville, a Berks County man also must defend against two more sets of charges.
Jessie A. Wolfe, 31, of 1249B State St., Mertztown, waived his right to preliminary hearings Tuesday on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia in one case and fleeing or eluding police, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, recklessly endangering another person, driving under suspension, driving without a license, reckless driving, careless driving, stop sign violation, failure to drive on the right side of the road, one-way roadway violation and failure to drive at a safe speed in the other.
Magisterial District Judge James R. Ferrier bound over for the county court the charges from each case.
Schuylkill Haven borough police filed the charges in each of Tuesday's cases.
In the one, they alleged Wolfe possessed methamphetamine, a small plastic bag and a glass smoking tube at 7:40 p.m. June 2 at Union Street and Parkway in the borough.
In the other, police alleged Wolfe led officers on a chase at 3:51 a.m. May 24 on Wilson, Margaretta, Main and West Columbia streets in the borough.
Wolfe committed numerous traffic violations during the chase, police said.
He is in the county prison in the two cases in lieu of $12,500 straight cash bail, $10,000 in one and $2,500 in the other.
Wolfe, formerly of Summit Station, also has been charged with burglary, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property and escape in his third case.
Pottsville police alleged Wolfe fled from custody about 4 p.m. June 6 as he was being taken to the courthouse from prison. He was arrested about 12:45 a.m. June 7 in a wooded area along the Schuylkill River in Tilden Township, Berks County.
He is in prison in lieu of $75,000 straight cash bail in that case.
