ORWIGSBURG - The traffic signal at Route 61 and Brick Hill Road in Orwigsburg went into full operation today. It has been flashing since July 3 but will now use red, yellow and green lights.

Southbound traffic will enter the jug handle near Roman Delight to approach the traffic signal and can cross Route 61 into Orwigsburg. Northbound traffic will use the off ramp near the Red Church to go into Orwigsburg. Traffic coming out of Orwigsburg toward Route 61 will no longer pass Schaeffer's Harley-Davidson and will instead follow the new Brick Hill Road to the light.

Due to construction, Roman Delight's entrance has moved to a new driveway just north of the restaurant.

The traffic signal at the intersection of routes 895 and 61 coming out of Auburn started flashing today and will continue to do so for a week until becoming fully operational.

The bridge on Fork Mountain Road, near Fort Lebanon Road, will be closed Monday for repairs. It will remain closed for about a month.

Municipal Road will open and the traffic signal there will start flashing within the next month. It will also flash for a week before going fully operational.

The work is part of the Deer Lake project expected to be completed in September 2015. Construction on the project will convert four miles of the existing highway into northbound lanes and build two miles of new lanes for southbound traffic. Jug handles, traffic lights, three bridges and other work is also planned. The work started in September 2012.
