Mahanoy woman faces drug charges
MAHANOY CITY - A borough woman is facing charges by Mahanoy City police after an incident that occurred about midnight July 6 at 14th and East Pine streets.
Police said Heather M. Bowden, 26, of 420 E. Railroad St., was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and will have to answer to the charges before Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, Shenandoah.
Police said officers received a report of a suspicious person and found Bowden, who said she was in the area waiting for someone.
Bowden gave officers consent to search her handbag where a used syringe was found, police said.
Man in custody after incident
MAHANOY CITY - A borough man was taken into custody recently following a harassment complaint.
Mahanoy City police said officers were called for a report of harassment in progress and found Stephen J. Wilner, 42, was involved.
A computer check determined that Wilner was wanted in Carbon County on a warrant for failing to appear for a preliminary hearing on June 5, 2013.
He was taken into custody and committed to Schuylkill County Prison pending action by Carbon County officials, police said.
