n Barnesville: The Jerry Wolman Legacy League Golf Classic will be held Aug. 3 at Mountain Valley Golf Course. Organizers said in a release the intention is to honor Wolman's "benevolent spirit" by raising money and awareness for children's charities including the Children's Miracle Network of The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, the Ronald McDonald House and the Miracle League, a baseball program for handicapped children. Wolman, a native of Shenandoah, became a millionaire and bought the Philadelphia Eagles professional football team. However, he had to sell the team when his financial empire had a setback. The Jerry Wolman Legacy League's establishment as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is pending. Organizers are looking for golfers and sponsors. Lunch will begin at 11 a.m. and tee-off is 12:30 p.m. There will also be a tailgate party and prizes plus music. n Pine Grove: A full-moon hike, night float and clambake are set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at Sweet Arrow Lake County Park, presented by Diakon Living & Learning After 50. Participants will have an opportunity to enjoy the summer full moon, take a guided moonlight walk in the park, canoe or kayak under the moon and enjoy a clambake. n Pottsville: Strike Zone Alley will sponsor a fundraiser for Morgan Gehret, who was born with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, a condition in which the diaphragm fails to form, letting organs such as the stomach, liver and intestines up into the chest cavity. Morgan is recuperating after intensive treatment at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. She is the daughter of Nichole and Mark Gehret. The fundraiser is scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. July 27. n Tamaqua: The Tamaqua Community Arts Center, 125 Pine St., will offer a summer ballet workshop if there is enough interest. The workshop will be open to potential dancers between the ages of 8 and 18 and offered by Florence Geise, who has more than 40 years of ballet experience. Geise trained in New York and with the Russian Ballet School. She also directed the Schuylkill Ballet Theatre's production of "The Nutcracker" for more than 20 years.
