Shen woman faces

charge in accident

SHENANDOAH - A borough woman was charged by borough police with careless driving, driving at an unsafe speed and duty to give information and render aid after officers were called to Chestnut and Cherry streets at 7:45 p.m. July 1.

Police said Monday that Lori Karahuta, 42, of 306 S. Jardin St., was driving a vehicle when she struck a bicycle on which Brian Agular, 20, of 403 S. Main St., was riding. Police said the man was knocked off of the bike.

Karahuta left the scene, was later identified and admitted hitting the man, but said she drove away after seeing him get up off of the ground and pick up the bicycle, police said. The woman said she went to pick up a pizza where she was originally going, went home and took her dog back to the scene but no one was there, police said.

Police said Agular suffered minor injuries to his arms and legs and that his bicycle was also damaged.

Indecent act

MAR LIN - A Pine Grove man is facing charges of indecent exposure after incidents that occurred at Mauer and Minersville streets in Norwegian Township between 6 and 7 p.m. Saturday and then at 6:25 p.m. Sunday, police said.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Cody Donmoyer, 21, exposed himself and touched himself inappropriately on a public street while in the driver's seat of his vehicle where he could be seen by the public.

Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call them at 570-593-2000 and refer to Incident L07-1327167.

Drug charges

filed against man

BARNESVILLE - A Barnesville man is facing drug charges after an incident at 221 Church St. in this Ryan Township village about 1:45 p.m. Sunday, police said.

State police at Frackville said Jeremy Lockwitch, 26, was found with 34 Xanax pills, 27 Tramadol pills and 14 Percocet pills that were stored in an unlabeled container and for which he did not have legal prescriptions.

Lockwitch will have to answer before Magisterial District Judge Christina E. Hale, Frackville, on charges related to having illegal prescriptions, police said.

Mahanoy woman

charged in Shen

SHENANDOAH - A Mahanoy City woman was arrested by Shenandoah police and charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after an incident in the 300 block of West Chester Street at 3:20 a.m. Sunday.

Police said officers were called to the area for a report of a woman crawling in the street and yelling. At the scene, police said they found Molly McGuire, 122 W. Birch St., sleeping in the middle of the block.

McGuire, who police said told them she had been drinking at a bar and had no idea how she got to West Chester Street, will have to answer to the charges before Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, Shenandoah.

FRACKVILLE - Borough police investigated a criminal mischief incident that occurred at Memorial Park around July 5.

Police said Brian Russell, 12 N. Third St., reported a criminal mischief incident on July 7 and said there were juveniles at the park trying to fix the damage.

Police said one girl, age 12, wrote on a picnic table with a marker while her 11-year-old sister urged her to do so and stood and watched.

Police said Russell wanted both girls cited for disorderly conduct and said that they will sand and paint the table if it needs to be replaced.

Police probe

hit-and-run

FRACKVILLE - Borough police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred at 121 N. Second St. and reported about 5 p.m. Thursday.

Police said Dennis Berkheiser, 123 N. Second St., reported that a vehicle backed into his garage possibly while either backing out of a parking space across the street or turning around. Police said that Berkheiser reported that the bottom two door panels and tracking appeared to be damaged and that the door could not be used.
