MAHANOY CITY - A 13-year-old borough boy suffered minor injuries that required sutures Monday after he drove his bicycle into the side of a borough police cruiser.
State police at Frackville said the crash occurred about 7:15 p.m. at 13th and East Market streets.
Police said the boy was riding his bicycle north on 13th Street, a one-way street traveling south, when he went into the intersection at a high rate of speed for a bicycle.
Police said that, in the intersection, the boy drove into the driver's side door of a Mahanoy City police Crown Victoria cruiser being driven west on East Market Street by Patrolman Jonathan McHugh.
Police said McHugh was on routine patrol and traveling in the area at 5 mph when his car was hit.
The boy suffered a cut on his forehead and initially refused treatment, police said, adding that he was later taken to a hospital by his mother for treatment.
Police said no charges will be filed but the boy will receive warnings for his actions, such as driving the wrong way on a one-way street.
McHugh was not injured, police said
