Woman accused
of damage
MINERSVILLE - A criminal mischief incident that occurred at 819A Forest Lane in Cass Township about 6 a.m. Tuesday led to charges pending against a Tower City woman, police said.
State police at Frackville said Traci Faiola, 37, damaged a screen and window fan at the property by banging on the screen and fan.
She will have charges against her filed in district court and will receive a summons in the mail, police said.
Woman not hurt
in Rt. 209 crash
PORT CARBON - A Nuremberg woman escaped injury when the 2003 Subaru Legacy she was driving crashed on Route 209, just south of Dodd Street in East Norwegian Township about 7:30 a.m. Saturday, police said.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Katherine Mock, 34, was driving north when she lost control of her car in the rain in a right curve. The car spun clockwise twice before going off the road and hitting two posts in front of Boardman Brothers Auto.
Police said the car was towed from the scene and that Mock will be charged with failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic.
Stolen truck
recovered
NEWTOWN - State police at Schuylkill Haven said a stolen truck was recovered about 4 p.m. Sunday in an area north of Newtown between Route 209 and Swatara Road in Reilly Township.
Police said someone walking on a trail discovered a red 2002 Ford F-350 X-Cab Dually Diesel near a water reservoir on concrete blocks with the wheels missing. The truck was stolen from Michelle A. Shimp, Ephrata, while it was in Manheim, Lancaster County. The theft was confirmed by Manheim Borough Police on Friday, police said.
The truck was towed from the scene, police ask anyone with information call 570-874-5300.
Man charged
in scrap theft
HEGINS - A theft that occurred at 1:20 p.m. June 21 resulted in charges filed against a Hegins man, police said.
State police at Frackville said Dustin Rebuck, 33, stole assorted scrap items from a property at 1091 Deep Creek Road in Barry Township owned by Morgan Yarnall, Hegins.
Charges of theft and receiving stolen property against Rebuck were filed with Magisterial District Judge Carol A. Pankake, Tremont, police said.
Police probe
apparent scam
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - Borough police are investigating a possible scam reported by a resident July 9.
Police said the resident received a call saying that they had won $60,000, and in order to receive the cash would have to send in $602.
The resident did not send the money but instead contacted police.
Police said there are no additional leads and warn all residents to be aware of similar scams and not to remit any money or provide personal information.
Vehicle break-in
probed in Haven
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - Borough police are investigating a vehicle break-in at Shell Gas station on Route 61 at 3:45 a.m. Saturday.
Police said officers were called to the business and were informed by the victim that he left the store and saw a man inside his vehicle. The man fled the area in a maroon Dodge Neon traveling north on Route 61 toward Pottsville with about $6 cash.
Police said that when identified, the thief will face misdemeanor charges and that officers are reviewing video from the station security system to identify the thief and the vehicle in which he fled.
City man not hurt
in 1-car crash
A Pottsville man was not injured in a crash at 5:07 p.m. Sunday on Ann Street near the Fairlane Village mall in Norwegian Township.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Edward J. Castellano, 48, of Pottsville, driving a 2007 Dodge Nitro, was traveling north on Ann Street.
Castellano dropped a cigarette onto the floor of his vehicle. When he reached for it, the vehicle left the road, struck a dirt embankment and turned onto its roof.
He was able to free himself from the vehicle and was not injured.
The vehicle was towed from the scene with moderate damage.
Castellano faces charges in connection with the crash, police said.
