n Girardville: The Girardville Ambulance Service will hold a benefit car wash from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday at its garage, 101 W. Main St. The cost is $5 per car, with all proceeds going to the Rob Krick Heart Fund.

n Mahanoy City: The Mahanoy City Public Library will have free children's crafts from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday on the second floor of the library building. Crafts will be themed for summer with a story as part of the activities. Register at the front desk or by calling 570-573-1822 or emailing sarahannfucci@gmail.com.

n Millersburg: The Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art announced in a release the next installment in its Discovery lecture series - "Bob Hines: National Wildlife Artist." It's set for 7 p.m. June 21 at the center. Hines biographer John Juriga will give the lecture. Hines was the only person ever to be designated as an official national wildlife artist, according to Alexis Dow Campbell, the center's director of creative programming. The Hines exhibit will be on display in the center's Olewine Gallery through Sept. 1. Admission to the lecture is $5 per person. Ned Smith Center members can use their membership coupons to receive half-price admission. Advance tickets are available by calling the center gift shop at 717-692-3699 or going to the center's website at www.nedsmithcenter.org.

n Pottsville: The Pottsville Kiwanis Club met recently at its new meeting place, the Pottsville Zone, and presented Kiwanis scholastic awards to deserving middle school students from the D.H.H. Lengel school and Assumption BVM for academic excellence. Recipients included Colin Williams, Kayla Drasdis, Andrew Viduszynski and Noelle Steele. Albert Barnes is the club president. Other officers include Henry Beaver Jr., treasurer; Jodie Dermo, assistant treasurer; Kelly Malone, secretary, and Glenn Roth Jr., assistant secretary. Martina Stevenosky is the immediate past president.

n Pottsville: President Bill Parulis and President-elect Clint Delvalle discussed club business and provided updates on projects during a recent meeting of the Pottsville Rotary Club. They said the club received a Presidential Citation for Rotary International at the district assembly on May 18. Membership continues to be a focus and members were reminded to follow up with the prospective members who attended the April Membership Mixer. The club's community garden project is progressing with the purchase of a storage shed. Completion of water service is expected shortly. The Joulwan Park Pavilion project is still waiting for a response from PPL on the cost of the electric service. That will dictate the amount of improvements we can complete with the current funds available, according to Parulis and Delvalle.

n Saint Clair: Members of the Saint Clair Community and Historical Society are asked to bring their items for sale at the townwide yard sale to the Quirin building, Second and Railroad streets, as soon as possible. The townwide yard sale will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday rain or shine. Call Carol at 570-429-0769 so she can open the Quirin building. Society members who are working the sale should report to the building at 6:30 a.m. There will also be a food and bake sale. Members are with questions should call Dot at 570-429-0553 or Darlene at 570-429-2129.

n Shenandoah: For the services of the Catholic Charities Immigration Outreach Office, 218 W. Cherry St., call Jennifer Clerici at 570-462-2585 or email jclerici@allentowndiocese.org. Services are available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the second and fourth Monday of the month. Representatives of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Allentown offer services from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays at 218 W. Cherry St. Services include pregnancy and parenting support, case management for individuals, families and older adults plus information and referral. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred. To schedule an appointment or for more information, call Catholic Charities at 570-628-0466.
